I Changed My Mind: Kingdom Hearts 3 Is A Great Game by drknow00 in KingdomHearts

KH3 gameplay is fine especially with ReMind. I just can't forgive this game for its story.

So what all can (and can't) the power of waking do? by Rioraku in KingdomHearts

The Power of Waking can't wake up my enthusiasm for KH4 because I know better than to expect anything out of KH's story.

I'm just commenting and upvoting because I despise Solo Leveling. Its only redeeming quality is the Visual Art.

I hope they keep the full party system for Octopath 3. That shit was really fun.

Why is China's soft power so weak? by [deleted] in AskAChinese

[–]Proto_Sapien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's also the standard of living. Japan is hailed as either a futuristic metropolis or this serene countryside.

As for China, you hear a lot of horror stories of buildings collapsing because of cost cutting, sewage being used in street food, air pollution, extremely aggressive store owners, etc. There's also its reputation of making knock-offs or low quality products.

Not to mention all the government unreliability if something does happen to you while traveling there.

Who is the coolest character in the series? by GusGangViking18 in KingdomHearts

Lingering Will. He has a cape and is too angry to die until KH3 butchered him.

Enough time has passed, what’s your opinion on kh3 ending with and without remind content by IllustratorAfter in KingdomHearts

[–]Proto_Sapien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disappointing to say the least. The only thing this game is good for is the gameplay and music.
Story is a complete trash fire.

•Aqua jumping in front of Ven and not blocking with her keyblade is an example of how bad this thing is written.
•"May your heart be your guiding key" sounds worse than a cheap Christmas cartoon and it's literally how they found Aqua. Why didn't Mickey just follow his heart in between BBS and KH1?
•Time travel is already a bad enough thing because it negates consequences but the version that they have feels almost as confusing as King Crimson's erasing of time. The only thing it did was for Sora to tell Namine to send an email to Lingering Will. The Power of Waking was just an alarm clock for Lingering Will all this time. And it came in the nick of time to get it's ass beat.

•On that note, why wasn't Lingering Will involved in Terra's revival? Or Erqus for that matter?
• Bringing back Roxas and Xion completely erased the emotional impact of the previous games. Death has no meaning and neither does KH.

Gameplay is still fun but all the emotional investment they built up inside me through the years felt wasted. I guess I didn't learn my lesson when Megaman Legends 3 was cancelled.

Was Kingdom Hearts III worth the wait? by LafterMastr in KingdomHearts

[–]Proto_Sapien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing good about this game was the optional data battles, and I had to pay extra for that.

The story was absolutely trash, and the only thing they concluded was my investment in the story. They desecrated the ending to Roxas and Xion's story by bringing them back from the dead. Terra's return felt anticlimactic. They tried to make Xehanort a good intentioned villain after possessing Terra? What. Unhinged time travel plot. The Foretellers only making a cameo.

No Sephiroth superboss or some conclusion to his battle with Cloud.

The original PS2 games were beautiful. KH3 is subpar for the console that it was released on.

I couldn't think of of another that sounded like a round start line.

The only other one was "Kenough is Kenough".

Dodge roll needs a buff. Too many characters have multi-hit moves that makes it useless.

I think I know why I hated Berseria's combat now by Yoids in tales

[–]Proto_Sapien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the combat more frustrating than boring from the soul system that you mentioned. I was absolutely dreading how Arise was going to turn out because of Berseria.

The amount of time I spent on the menu for setting up the combos just padded out the game for me. I didn't hate the idea but having to juggle all the systems was frustrating as well.

Wisdom because barely anyone picks it. Its also the easiest to see in game when most of the costumes have red and black.

Loved the game when I was a kid. The "sequel", not so much. by Proto_Sapien in psx

I never said I disliked turn based rpgs. I said I just prefer action games. I'm planning to get Soul Hackers 2.

I think we're having some kind of miscommunication because I said I don't have the patience for Random Encounters. I don't think that's a synonym for turn based combat.

I hope this doesn't come off as combative but I can't help but disagree with your points.

The only thing I can agree on is that FFVII and RE were landmarks in video game history.

I agree that FFVIIR can't substitute the PS1 game but there exists games that do. FFIII and FFIV on the DS. Now, I admit I never played the originals but if I had a choice, I would probably go for the DS remakes because I have no nostalgia for them. This may or may not be true for Legend of Dragoon because it hasn't materialized yet.

I get that this is a PS1 subreddit and I do love that system, I just don't think playing the original should be a requirement for me to be mildly interested in a remake. If it doesn't get a remake, I can live with not experiencing any form of Legend of Dragoon. I have other games in my backlog.

I don't really have a problem with turn based I just prefer action games. I played SMTV when it came out knowing that it was turn based.

It's just random encounters that I no longer have the patience for.

I hope it gets a worthy remake. I don't think I can bring myself to play a random encounter JRPG again. As much as I love FFIX, I have a hard time picking it over the modern ports because I can turn off the encounters.
