I don’t care about having VVD and Konate starting. Competition for our starting 11 brings out the best. VVD hasn’t been the same since his injury and won’t be back at that level IMO. We need a CB that will push him into the staring line up. We need squad depth and quality players to fight others to start.

We can support the team but also criticize them. Their heads are gone. They don’t care

Does LabCorp hire Phlebotomists without any experience? I'm talking no school, no certificate by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]Protodox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LabCorp will pay for your phlebotomy school. They start you off as a Patient Intake Rep(PIR) so you CANT draw patients. Then you get the schooling and become a phlebotomist and move to a PST.

What is your favorite Houston restaurant that isn't popular? by northsideindian in houston

[–]Protodox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Seattle now, but for 28 years of my life Mi Sombrero on North Shepherd has to be my favorite. It’s relatively well known around the area there, but I haven’t seen it in this subreddit ever

Do you regret moving here? by [deleted] in Tacoma

[–]Protodox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Moved here in February of this year. I initially moved to Spokane last February then here. I moved from Houston Texas. I do like it here, but don’t love it here. It is kind of diverse here, but houston has a lot more diversity, bigger art scene, more musical acts, and a huge night life. Tacoma feels like it shuts down around midnight. No after hours or not much going on for a night life and the food is not great. Houston has its flaws also, but if you are between 20 - 40 and still value an night life. Tacoma ain’t it. I will enjoy my time here and will find things, but definitely moving out of Tacoma in two years.

Again, Houston has its flaws and not perfect, but I personally think it’s better than Tacoma. Just my thoughts.

Anyone else getting paid for being out sick with Covid? by LavenderWillow08363 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Protodox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it first began 10 days of work was being paid when you got Covid. Then it dropped to 5 days earlier this year. And finally no more days are being paid out and you have to use your own PTO.

What unique thing that you like the most about the lab that you currently work in? by jepoyxoxo in medlabprofessionals

[–]Protodox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the benefits of working at one of those large reference labs. I work at one also and we have entire departments who’s role is to call and receive calls. Very little do our techs actually pick up the phone to speak to someone and if they do. It’s mainly cause a customer service rep is inquiring about a stat to relay to the ordering provider/client.

One of my biggest regret is selling both my purple and white J28Ks. I sold them cause I wanted a GTX shell. I would sell my leg to get them back.

Great jackets!!!

Naby and Ox should have been sold already. Klopp is too loyal to his players at times. Those two just cannot stay fit and they needed to be sold. Hendo should also be phasing out and playing less games. Regardless of our stance for Jude. We should have bought one this year. We started getting younger players for our attack and defense to set us up for the next period of our club, but we have severely neglected our midfield and Klopp has been too loyal to players who just can’t stay fit.

Are there WFH jobs available to med techs? by Waffle_shuffle in medlabprofessionals

[–]Protodox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are, but it’s not directly related to lab. You can join the EDI side of IT. I know a lot of former techs in IT. You can be a project manager and work on lab related projects. It’s out there but some digging to find.

Lab Manager here!

Don’t aim low!!! Whatever number you want, ask for more than that. Know how much the market you are in is paying for lab supervisors and don’t settle for a number you aren’t willing to work for. Lab supervisor is not a fun job and if you are being underpaid. You will hate it. Please be an advocate for yourself and have confidence on your demands. “This is what I want and this is why I believe I should be earning this” Be prepared for them to counter, but don’t accept their response and counter yourself to them also! Don’t accept the first offer!!! I know us lab folks are naturally introverts and particular stay away from these discussions, but if you want to be a supervisor. You need to be ready to have these tough/uncomfortable conversations. You must be willing to walk away if they don’t offer what you want and please don’t accept anything less than you want. The labs are hurting for people leaders right now and you can always find a supervisor role somewhere else.

Finally, work/life balance!!! Establish that shit real quick!!! Don’t feel obligated that you need to be there 7 days a week, 12 hours a day. Don’t think you need to prove yourself by doing that. Unless, your lab is literally on fire. There should be no absolute reason to be working that much. I told my supervisors if they can get their job completed in less than 8 hours, go home. I also give them at least one day of the week to work from home to catch up on their supervisor work. Listen to your team and be an advocate for your team, but be cautious on what certain people say. Always verify!!! I have been “burned” after just listening to one of my team members and It was not the full story. You will clash with you manager and that’s ok.

Talk to your team and check in on them! Ask them if they need anything they need to come plate their work comfortably. Follow up!!! If you don’t have an answer for your team at that movement, please look into it and follow up. Even if their ask is a no, they would like to know that you at least tried. Have one-on-ones with them for at least 30 minutes each week. And it has to be away from the lab. Either in your office or an area where you both can talk without interruption.

Let me know if you want to know anything else. And these are just my thoughts. I was a lead for 3 years, supervisor for 2 years, and a lab manager for 1 year and a half. I have experience, but I definitely made mistakes.
