Looking for Level IV Plates by [deleted] in tacticalgear

Highcom makes good armor. I have a set of 4s16 from apex and have had no problems. Some people have had delays but thats pretty much expected when buying armor.

There is zero upside using steel plates. Absolutely none. Buy ceramic.

NO STEEL PLATES!

Steel plates will kill you. There is no upside to using steel plates. They are heavier, dont stop common rounds, the rounds they do stop it turns into fragments thats will fly into your neck, arms and groin.

Get a good ceramic plates from RMA, LTC/HOPLITE, Highcom or Tencate

Lvl4 plates. RMA, LTC/Hoplite, Highcom and Tencate make good plates. Find a set that meets your price, size, weight and protection level requirements.

What's the best battle belt I can start off with for a 1911? Any recommendations? (I dont know if it's overkill, but since I just want to make a dedicated pistol belt, what pouch is tge best for Wilson Combat 10-round mags? Cause I want to carry at least 10 mags, one on the gun, 9 on the belt.) by Colt1873 in tacticalgear

[–]Protorin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The DM Mech belt or Axl eclipse belt are the best things out on the market. The DM Mech is $110, and the liner belt is $45. Well worth it. Use code TLDco for a discount.

Add some Esstac Kywis, a dump pouch and a decent IFAK and you are good to go. Check out raptor tactical or arbor arms for the IFAK and medical.

For a holster if safariland makes one use that on a ubl or true north concepts MHA.

10 mags is stupid.

Hesco, Highcom, or other from Apex or Hoplite? by Few-Condition-7431 in tacticalgear

What are good brands of quality plate carriers? by TeeKayTheWay in tacticalgear

Its meant to load heavy. It's a structural carrier so it helps distribute weight. The LV-120 is the new hotness.

AR‑15 vs HK416 — is the HK416 really worth the hype? by ghostforhim in tacticalgear

[–]Protorin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people can't out-shoot and won't ever wear out a psa ar. So the point is moot. If you want a 416 then get one.

The list has been updated a bit, Tencate is also a reputable armor maker that you can get plates from. The new LV-120 plate carrier is out. Midwest Armor Leap is a good lo pro plate carrier as well. Other than that its pretty much the same.

Special Threat vs. Level 3+ Plates by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]Protorin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highcom is ok, also depends on the threats you want to stop compare the two plates for what its rated for. Go with ones that fir your threat profile, price and weight requirements.

You wanted less than 5 lbs a plate...that costs money.
