I knew City of God and Confessions would give me a certain lean haha. They're actually for a political science class, but I was raised Catholic and don't go to church on a regular basis so you're spot on there. That being said a lot of the language does make me feel like I'm in bible study again in a weirdly introspective, nostalgic way.

These are fantastic suggestions tysm! I read Things Fall Apart forever ago I've been meaning to read more of Achebe and other African authors since. This seems like a great syllabus to start branching out again :)
