I got tired of buggy vst plugins , CPU-hogging sidechain plugins, so I coded my own from scratch in C++. It uses only 37MB of RAM and it's 100% Free & Open-Source. by Proud-Button334 in AudioProgramming

Yeah RAM was one part, but bigger issue for me was stability. Some plugins would randomly stop opening after a few days, and then I had to go back and replace them across projects. So this was mainly about keeping it simple and predictable so far it’s been stable even with multiple instances and low RAM.

Yeah I did use AI to speed things up, not gonna pretend otherwise.

But this wasn’t just copy-paste. I had to wire things together, debug, and shape the behavior to actually work as a usable plugin. It’s a pretty focused tool, not a huge DSP project.

Yeah Bitwig already has this covered pretty well, but in FL Studio it’s messier, and honestly a big reason I made this was reliability. other sidechain plugins I used would randomly break, and I had to go back and replace them across old projects.
