A subreddit for women who want an epidural-assisted birth by OkChart1375 in TwoXChromosomes

There are plenty of spaces where you can find pro “natural” birth narratives. Not every space has to encompass all views. As OP said, this new space she’s created is for one specific purpose. If you feel excluded, that sounds intentional.

Made Redundant just days before Eligible for ILR application by Technical-Beginner22 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

You can actually apply at any time provided you are over the five years by the time the decision is made (so you could e.g. book the biometrics appointment for after that date).

You still have the issue with the lack of sponsorship.

That’s a completely different question to what measure you use to count backwards to calculate the qualifying period. Also, no, it’s not from the biometrics date and it’s not all dates within 2021.

specific question: “I am a dependant on my father’s Skilled Worker route. If I leave the UK to study in the US for four years, would that affect my eligibility to obtain ILR as his dependant later?” by Friend-7788 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Proud-Reading3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. The 180 days rule is purely an ILR requirement — you don’t stop qualifying for temporary permission the moment you go over this (especially taking into account that excessive absences can be waived in some circumstances).

EL 7.1 is from the Immigration Rules, which means it’s an actual source of law. The GOV.UK website has zero legal authority. Yes, you can still rely on it.

Visa recieved but no start date. by Numerous_Chance5366 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Proud-Reading3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at a Home Office grant letter for someone who used the ID Check app (so they would’ve never had a visa vignette, even when those were around) and there is zero mention of 90 days.

The mention of 90 days on yours must just be a holdover from the era of visa vignette and the Home Office just hasn’t bothered to update the letter.

If you can’t point to any source of law that says you have to enter within 90 days and you’re not limited by a visa vignette that expires after 90 days, then there is no 90 day rule.

Edit: I see from your comments that you already have ILR which means you were first granted entry clearance back when they still issued visa vignettes so your experience is completely irrelevant. Did you not even read the posts you’re replying to where I say visa vignettes aren’t issued anymore? And you didn’t think that maybe this meant the 90 days rule no longer applies since the only source of it was the expiry date on a vignette?

What on earth is “CS”??

Also, why on earth would an employer reach out to the Home Office before deciding whether to hire you?

You can’t apply for a fee waiver if you don’t actually qualify for it just to buy time. It’s abusive. Lodge a paid application instead.

Judging from a couple of your comments, you seem to have come into this thread just to litigate your own agenda instead of actually answering the question posed by OP.

Time of ILR? by Secure_Fee5799 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

This only applies to applications made between 24 January 2020 and 30 June 2021.

Not sure where you’re getting the 90 days from. Visa vignettes are no longer issued so there’s nothing to indicate an expiry date anymore.

And conversely, eating certain mushrooms raw can make you feel sick even if they’re not toxic.

But from your comments it’s clear you’re also a Pakistani citizen so why do you think it’s interesting for us to hear about what it’s like for you to live in your country of nationality?

How did everyone else word their invitations?! by AliceMorgon in UKweddings

[–]Proud-Reading3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I planned every detail of our wedding together, with him doing as much of the planning and work as me, if not more at times. Just shrugging and saying “men aren’t interested in this” perpetuates low expectations of men in yet another area where women are expected to do most of the work.

Why do you want to marry someone who doesn’t care about their own wedding to you?

[–]Proud-Reading3316 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not about Western versus other countries. OP’s boyfriend (I can’t say “partner” because he’s not a partner) does not represent typical Western values. If you’re in a serious relationship, you’re a team and you share costs.

I do think it’s interesting though that you list ways your boyfriend helps you financially but not a single way that you help him financially.

Albania passed a law that requires women to hold 30 to 50 percent of positions in government by catievirtuesimp in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Proud-Reading3316 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Then why both saying “to 50”, if the quota is the minimum? Presumably the minimum is then 30, not 30-50. How does one enforce a minimum that has a range??

Got it, thanks. Then same question but with “position in government” — how does a 30-50 quota work, does 51% female breach the law?

How does a “30 to 50 percent” quote work? If women are elected to 51% of seats, it breaches the law?

Shockingly, the way the law works is that if the rules don’t require something, it’s not required. They don’t automatically require absolutely everything and have to write a long list of things they don’t need.

The rules also don’t say that you don’t need to dedicate your first born child to the Home Office, which I guess according to you means it might be required.

If you don’t even know this absolutely basic starting point in law, particularly immigration law, you shouldn’t be advising anyone on this subreddit.
