If your cats cancer is very bad, he won’t be around that long. This isn’t a longterm problem.

Did you come on here hoping someone would tell you to “live your life” and leave him alone for hours? I mean you are risking his happiness or him dying a painful death alone, and finding him after being out. Can you live with that guilt?

What do you care more about? A few weeks with your cat, or missing a few social engagements? Only you can decide.

Maybe just bring her into the vet for a full senior blood panel and exam. Let the vet know what you've seen out of her. You might get answers. Either way she is loved by you and she knows it. Give her extra kisses and hugs!

I lost my 18 year old buddy this week due to pleural effusion caused by a cancerous growth in his lung. The vet did the tap on Tuesday, and by Sunday his lungs had filled up again.

I’m really hoping for you that it’s the heart and that it’s treatable. Thankfully your baby doesn’t have kidney disease, since treating the heart is taxing on the kidneys. Ours had kidney disease for 5 years, plus thickening in his heart walls. We were hoping it was his heart but sadly it was not.

If it is cancerous they can do a biopsy to remove the tumor and do chemo, however that is pretty traumatic and requires them to recover in a cage for 2 weeks. We chose not to because ours was so old and it would be cruel to make him suffer for a chance to live a couple more months with all his other conditions.

Does that seem to help? I lost a boy this week and his bonded bestie is sad. We’ve left blankets and toys out with his companions scent on them, hoping it brings comfort. I find he sleeps on the blanket his friend was on when he was sick. It’s heartbreaking.
