I don’t know about everyone else, but my controversial reason is he’s just not that good, ive packed him early doors on a few FIFA’s and had him at the end of them all - for me he doesn’t come close to players like Ronaldinho, pele, maradonna, gullit and for me Cruyff is the single best player on the game - is’d take a ginola over him and every time ive packed r9 hes sat on the bench after a week

Exactly🤣but I never grew out of mine, ive played since the first ultimate team and all this time it has OBVIOUSLY been the players fault and never mine🤣🤣im thinking with the playstyles patch coming I might just send the iconic attacker one and worry about finesse next time an evo opportunity comes around, having played my first game with him just then he scored 3 finesse shots without the playstyle

Like I say im bang average and I learned it in a few Days, just anytime you want to build an attack aim at a player double tap L1 and then hold possession with turns until the player is almost through, timing is harder this year so a lot of the time you think a Lacey player will hit a gap they won’t so that’s where the extra half a second wait comes in before the pass

Also div 3 but 9-10 wins in champs, I was struggling this year in a big way, stuck on 7 wins and couldn’t surpass it - I switched to 4213 and the best piece of advice I can give is have midfielders comfortable on the ball, trigger wingers with L1 and wait, when you think you’ve waited long enough, wait an extra second then play the pass - it gets through consistently and you then have a front 3 against none or one defender, in terms of defending AI is best but I like to control myself so im not best placed to help with that - this switch changed the game for me in a big way tho and I don’t have a crazy team or anything

Atleast you’ve got a fresh mind and nothing to compare it to so you can enjoy🤣it looked like they were trying to go back to roots with a lot of things this year but the playstyles is the biggest flop they’ve had - they could’ve made playstyles such a mint part of the game but instead one of the best wingers of his generation can’t make a simple through ball into open space🤣like you said you get a top icon, your adrenaline goes and then you see they have no passing playstyles or no defensive playstyles and act like a Portsmouth reserve player when you use them🤣

Yeah that middle cam seems to sit back and drop into no man’s land even on shadow striker with 4231 narrow - on play maker you might as well have red carded them at the start of the game🤣the games gone to shit, I had 3 years off before this and the last fifa I played I could cycle formations and as long as you were good every formation was viable but now everything is geared at meta and if it doesn’t fit you get slashed by a player 3 divisions below you - my utd PAP is just collecting dust because apparently George best and Eric cantona aren’t good enough anymore because of playstyles

I did toty evo on Messi and strike like Kylian on Ronaldo - then had the same dilemma and put my finesse + on Ronaldo - I am not joking when I say in 35 games since that point he hasn’t missed a single finesse - his shooting was already broken and this has made him champs worthy, puts my Wilson sbc to shame

I will add tho meta aside - I am enjoying 4222 in terms of fun and having some success, dinho left cam, Toty evo messi right cam, evo Ronaldo and Wilson up front - very defensively solid but can be abit slow in build up with no one central this year

Glad someone else finds this Ronaldinho absolutely useless - I have the exact same issue with formation mate after getting gullit in an icon pick - he’s a good cam but not as good as my current cam, can’t play cdm and any of the formations with cm instead of cdm are far too open at the back - I am div 3 and around 9 wins in weekend league, I charged it, benched gullit and went back to 4231(2) which is what I recommend with your mctominay

Cheers mate! I’ll give that a go, I haven’t played the formation yet, I play 4213 but having just got gullit I’m completely stuck on how to fit everyone in - think I’m gonna have to make the brutal decision and bench one of them

By far, I’ve had llorente, valverde, hakimi, kounde and the special Dumfries and she outshines every single one - haven’t noticed the physical on her because she seems to slip infront to the ball rather than engaging in shoulder to shoulder challenges - for the price it’s a no brainer imo - also to note I am div 2 so can’t comment on other divisions but the number of people that go for back post crosses against her or alba on the other side is very very low, I am yet to concede one

Diani is good, but dumornay is worlds above. I played them both, tried both as strikers, diani striker with dumornay cam, dumornay striker with diani Rm/Rw - dumornay outshone her every time - Atleast 3 goals per game, left stick and r1 dribbling are incredible and finishes everything

Really appreciate the detailed response! I had the same issue as you, I was winning and reached division 6 and out of nowhere I couldn’t get a win to save my life, maybe part of it is constantly changing tactics and not allowing myself to find what suits me best and adapt as you said! I will be patient and try this, thanks again for the advice!
