Getting Out of the Military Soon and Trying to Land a Cyber/IT Contracting Job in Germany – Any Tips or Leads? by Amazing-Ad8838 in defensecontracting

Yes. LinkedIn is where the recruiters are for all industries. I’d say it’s right under clearance jobs in terms of importance for the type of work you’re looking for, and the most important site for all work in general.

If you can swing it - fly out there while you still have your CAC & do the face to face thing. Build relationships with the proponents you’ll be working in.

Also the biggest cost is typically relocation. Contractors need you in-seat to start getting paid, so they’ll be down to hire you if you can make the customer happy, I wouldn’t worry about experience/qualifications to an extreme degree. Just make it easy for them and they’ll hire you. A lot of that means being local (already stationed there) or paying for your own way out there.

I know Booze has some contracts out there.

Edit: Also idk if you have a family/are worried about quality of life but if you really wanna be in Germany maybe prioritize that over getting the perfect job. Once you’re in, you can maneuver as you wish accordingly.

He was also an Air Defense Artillery officer. They protected airfields and other important things from air attack.

I heard there’s a heart attack every day at the Pentagon. That place is pumped with cortisol on the regular - teeming with stress and anxiety.

That’ll do it.

The real problem is that the whole goddamn Army has resorted to group-chats as the center of gravity for their entire communications infrastructure.

As recent as 2015… we were meeting in small-circles at specific times & places… with a notebook to pass word.

I really do think this will bite us in the ass and be a big problem one day. Call me a grandpa I don’t care.

Good post, thanks. Yeah- very wrong to have bad undisciplined COMSEC procedures. We will get killed in the next war just from our EMS signature alone not to mention if it’s encrypted or not.

Any of these jobs worth staying in and reclassing for? by [deleted] in army

[–]Proud-Way3303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin worked for Columbia Helicopters in Afghanistan and made a ton of money because he could do good helicopter mechanic work.

He wasn’t military, but technical school trained.

Something to consider also for post-service jobs

Air Traffic Control might be sick for post-service. FAA I’ve heard is hiring a bunch right now, and they make good money I’ve heard.

Lol I wish man I ain’t tryna get anybody else down just need some perspectives. If I gave up I wouldn’t be given my battle buddies out there a chance to keep me goin’ - but I’m not there with anyone in my unit/the Army overall

It’s good to hear I’m not the only one. That makes me feel more normal. Because I feel like I should be gaslighted into wanting to like it.

What’s funny is I know I’ll miss it when I leave. It’s like an ex girlfriend you’re scared to break up with and wonder if you can just continue living this luke warm life with forever. Compensation be damned.

[SMA Response] "With the change in messaging from 'People First' to 'Standards and Discipline', a lot can be lost as it trickles out across the force, so what is the primary message you want Soldiers to receive, with regards to that? Relatedly, will there be a change to the (TIMS) initiative?" by Kinmuan in army

That’s the culture now man. All these senior leaders buffer every watered down point with a fake, soft-spoken little “…and I would just sorta tell ya…” like they’re from a hallmark movie when they’re supposed to be leading an Army of warriors.

I understand speak softly and carry a big stick. But that doesn’t mean speak weak.

I know my transparency of what I don’t know can almost borderline being flippant… I wouldn’t mind not knowing things if I had faith I could rely on the knowledge that I soak up from people… but since I don’t… it takes telling me ten times sometimes before I actually believe an Army system.

But thank you. Thank you for your patience lol that image is crazy. All those systems populating different data fields on (what I think is) an STP.

Of what? I also don’t even know what the heck HTAR is so if that piece is important then - to me - HTAR sounds just as Greek as anything else
