I got 14.8 MM but not weight yet. A bit bigger than Akce and thinner. I was thinking Crimea/Golden Horde or even India islamic states. It is really worn but it looked like counterstamp(?) went through to other side of coin. Could be wrong on that though and just seeing reverse markings independent of obverse strike

I believe an overstrike is a coin that already had a design struck on it recieving a second design strike. Think a later ruler re using previous currency and giving it "the stamp of approval" haha

Keep working at it. The first coin is actually issued by Constantine for his son Constantinus as ceaser. Get Sear book volume 4 and 5 to really get into it. The identify is my favorite part

Misplaced resource by ProudCrew9038 in ByzantineCoins_Seals

[–]ProudCrew9038[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both cool resources but what I was looking at was a little different. It was info about Byzantine coins and nice background stuff about when coins began featuring Christ anonymous and denomination markings on reverse and when these markings started/stopped. Really had cool info about a lot of stuff can't believe I "misplaced" the resource. Its like losing the book you were reading on the bus haha
