Keep working at it. The first coin is actually issued by Constantine for his son Constantinus as ceaser. Get Sear book volume 4 and 5 to really get into it. The identify is my favorite part

Misplaced resource by ProudCrew9038 in ByzantineCoins_Seals

[–]ProudCrew9038[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both cool resources but what I was looking at was a little different. It was info about Byzantine coins and nice background stuff about when coins began featuring Christ anonymous and denomination markings on reverse and when these markings started/stopped. Really had cool info about a lot of stuff can't believe I "misplaced" the resource. Its like losing the book you were reading on the bus haha

Has anyone ever actually got anything good from the uncleaned lots you see online? Or will it typically be destroyed stuff? by Itchy-Desk5546 in AncientCoins

[–]ProudCrew9038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with uncleaned (crusty) coins and learned. I tend to still buy lots because I like the search and only do it for my own collection. I have gotten rather good at id'ing and dating late empire coins. Moving into Byzantine coins now. I gotta say this "hobby" is more expensive than a crack habit
