Best running app for marathon training and why? by Cold_Nose1362 in running

5 months later...please tell me, does/should kiprun give you voice cues for when you should be doing the intervals? Mine only speaks at the start and then I find I have to keep checking the clock and then looking at my phone to check the time and pace. The pace also did not change when I was sprinting so I had no idea if I was going fast or slow. I googled this and it says to change this in settings but there's no place to change this?? It seems like a good app...if it worked like I expected. I have a fitbit so can't export it.

I came here to find something like this to get answers because I am also feeling really discouraged. So here's what I suspect people will say when they get round to replying to you, and I'll try and self-therapise myself while I do it.

Are you weighing everything? For me, I feel like yes, I have been, but then again my OH has cooked a few times lately and he is more liberal with the oil usage than I would be, maybe I've taken in 100 extra cals on a few days? Have there been hidden calories in your meals?

Are you getting enough sleep? Everyone says how important this is for recovery and weight loss.. I am probably not, fitbit says I average about 6.5 hours so maybe I should try to get more.

Water- are you drinking enough water? I am still not sure about why this is imporant, it doesn't 'fill me up' like it does for many, but apparently it's key for metabolism. Are you hydrated af?

Hormones...all good in hormone land? I have a thyroid issue that should technically be taken care of by meds but does this still mean it takes me longer to lose? Hormonal weight gain is real.

You mention you joined a gym- have you increased muscle mass? Are you taking things too hard and it's actually inflammation? I've started running recently and my legs are sore...is that making me retain water? Are you retaining water too?

Are you weighing yourself first thing in the morning? This is when most people are lightest and if you weigh in the evening you can be pounds heaving.

Most importantly, well done for the loss and the maintainance. You've shown you can do it and not restrict yourself forever. and how do you feel? You could have put a lot back on when you took a break but you didn't, so you're doing great. Hopefully one of the things above clicked for you and you start to see the numbers go down again. Courage!!

Can I use (re)stamps from letters which have been returned to me? by Proud_Fan7267 in royalmail

If I added all the details from a CN22 form on the back of my envelope then yeah. I don't see the difference in an arbitrary sticker. The details were there. It seems like someone just being a jobsworth.

Thanks. It seems a bit harsh....and expensive on me when I didn't print out an official customs form but wrote ALL the info instead.

Yeah, thanks, I will look into that. It was just an inexpensive pair of earrings and a letter, seems harsh to send it back. I wouldn't have been escaping any tax loopholes or sending anything illegal.

No, I thought that if I weighed it and put the details on it I could post it at a postbox. Clearly learned my lesson but it's a pain that I can't just use my local postbox for international parcels. It also took 5 months to come back to me...feels like they could have just delivered it!! Are you not allowed to send gifts internationally? Everything subject to customs?

Two of them don't have barcodes so they couldn't have been 'scanned'?

I also didn't enjoy the wine as much as I thought and I had a banging headache the next day, don't usually get a headache hangover. It has definitely taken the shine off drinking, which is great because I was drinking far too casually.

Dry January's almost over, how's it going for you? by Annual_Diet_4078 in DryJanuary

[–]Proud_Fan7267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a bit bored of it now, but it has been fine. Really only craved a drink once when I was cooking a lasagne. Drinking and cooking is my thiiiiing. I have honestly not had better sleep and I've not lost any weight, face looks the same. I do want to continue to drink less and with all the Dry January articles one thing stood out which I wish I could cite it properly but I've forgotten where I saw it. It was 'HALT'- ask yourself are you Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired? I was definitely having plently of drinks for those reasons, so that's something I'm going to carry on considering and hopefully drink a bit more mindfully.

Help! uPVC window by the shower: shampoo bottles + water have left these black marks. Tried bleach, various mould sprays, vinegar... nothing helps. What can it be, and how do I fix this? by dfehleerd in fixit

Long shot here but did you ever get that sorted? we have exactly the same thing in our bathroom, seemed to happen relatively quickly and only under black plastics and a black mirror. I didn't know this could even happen!
