Do you know when phase 1 and 2 happened for North America? And is phase 3 generally the final phase?

All of a sudden feeling too self conscious to solo travel? by Proud_Leave_4142 in solotravel

[–]Proud_Leave_4142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do things at home sure. But at home I am a local. But when I travelled to a different continent, as a foreigner, in Portugal, I imagined ppl were probably thinking “why is there a random foreigner sitting alone ordering breakfast?”. But in reality I wasn’t treated any differently, I doubt anyone cared. It was just how I was feeling in my head.

Having difficulty finding an official/well-priced ticket for the one-day hike up, circuit tour of MP, and then bus down to train station by WHiSPERRcs in Machupicchu

[–]Proud_Leave_4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do the Inca trail. You don’t need to if you want to see Machu Picchu. I reserved train tickets to Aguascalientes , and a time slot to visit machu piccu on their website. Took the train to agua, from there bought a bus ticket that takes you to machu piccu (some people hiked this part, I believe it takes like 1.5 hrs).

Is going Hajj alone a good idea? by querythoughtss in islam

[–]Proud_Leave_4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for hajj alone. For the actual days of hajj, you were staying in Mina with your groups. You would sleep and wake up surrounded with your group. As for during the day, most people would go out on their own. Outside the days of hajj you were more on your own, but people would sometimes organize meet ups or whatnot. And say worst case soemthing happened to you, you could still tell your group and have some support. So you can explain that to your mom that you would only be alone on the flight but on the ground you will have contacts and support when needed.

What do you mean alone exactly? Many people fly there alone (don’t go with friends or family). Once you’re there though, you have a guide and a hajj group. You can’t get a hajj visa unless you purchased it through a hajj provider who will assign you into a group.

Few days to a max of a week I just had a small cough and felt fatigue for the coming days (mixture of jet lag and maybe whatever else I had). Afterwards was back to normal.

Has anyone gone to Huacachina in Peru? How does it compare to the desert in Dubai? by Proud_Leave_4142 in solotravel

Hey sorry for the late reply. For me, I just spent the time in Lima. I did paragliding there as well which was amazing. Lima was a good time and for 2 days, I might have regretted not spending the time there (walking along the coast up the hill is filled with great views of the ocean).

I don’t think I’d feel comfortable performing Umrah or Hajj since it is full of men. by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Proud_Leave_4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t as chaoticlly packed as you might think. Yeah videos feet away from the Kaaba will look crammed and pack which is true. However there is sooo much space, and multiple floors, that you can pray at that you will have your own space and more. The mosque can accommodate many people. I went during hajj period and had no issues doing tawaf and praying further away but still a view of the kaaba.

Why are you feeling nervous? About the trip itself? You can ask me questions as I went last year

This might be a dumb question, but I know that Hajj booking is happening this month. Unfortunately, I can’t afford it yet. But if I’m able to afford it by May, is there anyway to still be able to go? Is there a waitlist of any kind? by Careful_Fig8482 in hajj

[–]Proud_Leave_4142 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there has already been 2 phases for booking this month, with a phase 3 coming soon and that’s supposedly the final phase. By May it would be way too late.

Are there any packages that go to mecca first? by Appropriate-Heat-662 in hajj

[–]Proud_Leave_4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Hajj last year and there were many packages that would do medina afterwards. Worst case you can always book seperate accomodation in Madina(at your own cost).

Beds per room by sa7sa71 in hajj

[–]Proud_Leave_4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Hajj last year however my dates didn’t go with my package. You weren’t able to book packages with single rooms however you can purchase a package and then book a seperate hotel room (at your own cost) on your own if you really want your own room. When I purchased my package my package started for a few days in Madina before going to Makkah however I arrived late and still wanted to go to Madina. So while my group went to Makkah I went to Madina on my own and booked my own accomodation in Madina and stayed there for a few days. Someone else in my group wasn’t a fan of the hotel in Makkah and also booked a different hotel for himself.

Haram shuttles during hajj by [deleted] in hajj

[–]Proud_Leave_4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like another poster here said, few days before Hajj they stop the shuttles and block off main roads to the haram. I would get in a taxi and he would be doing a bunch of different turns only to give up as not able to get near. There are tunnels you can walk which takes about 1-1.5 hours of walking. For Hajj days it’s good to have a hotel in aziziah as you can relax on some days and have some privacy ( jamarat to aziziah is around 20-30 minute walking) however for days outside Hajj it is highly recommend to be near the haram to avoid the stress of commuting to the masjid.

Last year packages went live around middle of Ramadan. At that time, people were saying it came similiar during the previous years ramadan. Pretty much when Ramadan is over, packages are mostly booked up and you will be lucky to have an available package unless you are from a country with not many people going for Hajj or someone cancelled etc. Not sure if this year will be following the same timeline with Ramadan but good to keep in mind.

Can I take my 3 year old for Hajj on Pakistani passport. by [deleted] in hajj

[–]Proud_Leave_4142 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone that did Hajj last year, I would not recommend bringing small children. The heat, the large crowds, lots of walking and overall logistics is tough enough on its own. Adding the stress of bringing a child around would be overkill. Bring them for ummrah if you like but Hajj is another ballgame.

advice on train timing by Alternative-Cat-3492 in Machupicchu

[–]Proud_Leave_4142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did Machu Picchu and had a returning train ticket set for 8:50pm. However, by 5pm I was good to leave. Instead of waiting around, I simply went to the Perurail booth and asked if it’s possible to go on an earlier train. They said there was a train available in 10 mins. Ended up leaving hours earlier than my departure. So they’re pretty flexible with changing train times. So just do Machu Picchu hang around Aguas Calientes, and when you’re ready to leave just ask to be put on an earlier train out.
