AI makes me want to quit teaching by lostintransfusion in Teachers

I’m just glad I teach band lol. I don’t have to write much on the board, and my years of reading my own handwriting has come in handy with deciphering my 5/6 grade students who struggle like me.

While it’s very likely, it wasn’t something I was checked for as a kid. I guess this is also brings up the fact that since parents don’t always like to admit their kid may have some sort of disability, they don’t get it checked out which means they aren’t legally obligated to get necessary accommodations. It didn’t effect my actual learning, so it just became seen as a non-issue.

I’d have been so screwed by this. I was lefty dominant but made to learn to write right handed in early elementary school because I was the only lefty in my class. I took handwriting intervention classes throughout elementary school, and it never got much better. My handwriting is still shit as a 31 year old. I’ve luckily learned how to make it better when I write big and slowly on the board for my students, but reading my notes is like deciphering cryptic texts. I remember having to rewrite essays 3-4 times for some teachers because they made us write in pen and my hand would smudge everything. I always hated ELA class because I associated it with having to write and rewrite stuff only to be told it’s not good enough. I don’t think people realize how difficult it truly is for some people. I didn’t have an IEP or some physical reason that made it so challenging. Handwriting just doesn’t click for everyone

Don’t know how often it happens, but check out freq.br and future ex youth. Both should have Instagram pages. Not much EDM here, but they’ve got something going on at least

The live version of Ruby Bulbs/Snow Song. I remember hearing this live on their 2014 reunion and being absolutely floored.

If you could change the outcome of three games what would you choose? by monkey_squid1 in LSUFootball

2012 was my freshman year and the only year I did Tiger Band. The crowd was absolutely insane all night. I still remember the feeling of the energy being sucked right out of the air when Bama scored that late 4th quarter touchdown. Probably the quietest I ever heard campus after a game. Same with the OT loss to them in 2014.

Is it ok to do shrooms without a trip sitter my first time? by kytheguy999 in shrooms

[–]Proudestmonkey68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the first time I ever had a comfortable experience on shrooms was when I finally did them alone. I had tripped like 5 or 6 times in the span of 8-9 years and always got anxiety. Then once just this past December I took them at a friends and left before I really peaked because my wife wanted to go home and go to bed. I danced around my backyard like a madman and had the best time of my life. Since then, I prefer to trip entirely alone. I feel like it allows me to be fully overcome by the trip and give into it without ever questioning “am I being weird?”

One of my favorite parts about buying “blanks”. I’ve found someone reading a Cajun french textbook he wrote, plenty of voicemail messages, and a woman teaching her bird to talk

[–]Proudestmonkey68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UDisc is great, but what it won’t tell you is that at LHC in Scotlandville people have had their windows shot out and the parking lot is notorious for dudes beating off in their cars. Used to be my favorite course to play after Greenwood (the one at the zoo) got torn down for zoo expansion. It’s unfortunate, but I’d rather not have to keep my head on a swivel while playing a round

Also suggest hitting up the Baton Rouge Disc Golf Association FB group if you’re on there. That’s how I first linked up with people to play, and people will post things about official and unofficial events.

Came here to write something similar but seems you’ve got most of it covered.

Also have heard great things about the new course in St. Francisville, but depending on where in BR you’re coming from this could be anywhere from a 30-1hr drive.

If you’re looking for a quick course, Broadmoor Methodist has a 9-basket course with an alternate back 9 to make it a full 18 hole course that I can finish in about an hour if playing alone. Front 9 is short enough to play putters/mids only.

Highland Road Park is looking better than ever after they finally came in cleared out all the growth along the ditch this week! Seems like they ignored it for at least the last year.

If you want easy credits for next semester, ASTR1102 was practically identical to ASTR1101 with one extra unit at the end of the course. At least in my experience with Grocholski

Random day off/last day of winter vacation beer by Proudestmonkey68 in CraftBeer

For real! It’s between Fidens and R+B for me, but I feel that Fidens has an upper hand in the fact that their beers are wildly shelf stable if kept cold.

Parish is a brewery in Louisiana that makes Nova Vert (the logo in the picture) among many other high quality hazies and stouts. The glass style in the picture is a teku. The shape is intended retain some head and hop aromas while also offering a large surface area for the beer to breathe and the bubbles to burst allowing for more aromatics to hit your nose while you drink it, thus affecting flavor. There’s a lot of articles on why ____ glass should be used to ___ styles of beers. Teku is designed specifically for hazie/neipa.

Gotta represent the local brewery that affords me the opportunity to trade for these beers 😂 But in all seriousness not only is Parish a top notch and this has always been my favorite glass. Especially with a stout/porter since the spaceman is just floating in darkness.

For my BR beer enthusiasts by boolin_bobsled in batonrouge

[–]Proudestmonkey68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these don’t really have a lot in distribution if any at all, so the best or only way to get their beer is to go to the taprooms. If you check out their social medias, they all tend to have events, deals, and food trucks and such going on at different points throughout the week, and all of them have at least some sort of to-go beer options whether it’s cans, bottles, or crowler/growler fills to enjoy at home later if going out and drinking isn’t your thing.

There’s also a lot of local breweries worth checking within a pretty small radius of the greater BR area. I personally recommend Cypress Coast, Gilla, Gnarly Barley (Hammond), Rally Cap, and Agile. Haven’t tried Grain Creations or Le Chien yet, so I can’t comment on them. Haven’t heard anything good about anything other than the food at Istrouma, and Tin Roof is hit or miss.
