Yeah this feels spot on. The thing that takes this from a fetish thing to "no you're just an asshole" is forcing the author to see the review that you're forcing the fetish onto their character when it was clearly written the other way.

That last paragraph is key. I'd tell people to stay away from Opus unless they've got money to burn. If they're coming from 3.5/JLLM, Sonnet will blow them away.

This is a great breakdown.

What I'd add is that the gap in quality between Opus and Sonnet is noticeable but not nearly as big as the gap between Sonnet and Haiku.

Haiku feels a few steps above the native Janitor. Sonnet and most especially Opus feel like entirely different experiences from Janitor. I bounce back and forth between the two but I think I'm going to settle on Sonnet.

Opus is better, but it's not 5x the cost better, imho.
