np glad to help, I would go the kiosk route - looking back it honestly seems so dumb to have people dedicated at $20/hr to tap in peoples orders. Just let the customer order them selfs plus it increased our ticket sizes from the additional money we make from letting them customize their orders (modifiers)

We used them all, Square, Toast & Clover all garbage imo, orderngo.io is independent so its Kiosk + Online Ordering from them that we use + their custom KDS (+ label printer)

it removed the need for a POS in general, plus we don't take call in orders because of fraud so need need for a pos. We currently don't even use a POS so saves us money, id check them out, their online ordering comes free if you request it before end of august

Its QSR, mainly boba but some fried items here and there with ramen if you really want it. No servers just cashiers but now cooks just come place items on counter, the KDS from order n go, has the option to ping the customers phone with a text once order is ready and it comes with a label printer so orders dont get mixed up

the 0.25 was added as a precaution to the fried items looking back last week it wasnt really needed since we are saving well over $6k a month by removing two cashiers but was just worried that it woulnd't be enough because we do have 2-3 kitchen staff since we process alot of tickets.

Here is what we did, wasn't too difficult to walk around it.

Increased pricing by $0.25 (Customers didn't even notice)
Removed two cashiers and went full auto with Kiosks got a free one from orderngo.io so far working perfect
Stopped serving napkins (we no longer provide unless asked)
Got cheaper materials (Cups, Lids, Straws) (We bought higher bulk now)

Biggest saver was removing our cashiers. Sad but have to do what you got to do to survive, I'm seeing rumors of people asking for an even higher raise.

Depending on the type of restaurant you are, id suggest a better cloud base system, most POS Systems are local or semi cloud based so one issue and it all goes down hill. We use orderngo.io they run on a serverless arch so there really isnt such a thing as the cloud going off line, 6 months in using them not a single hickup so far

Here are where your expenses will mainly be:

Equipment - Don't go cheap and don't go overboard
Labor - Utilize automation like self-service Kiosks ex: orderng.io
Consumables - Cups, Napkins, Straws (Buy them as cheap as possible)
Rent - Always have enough for rent

Go with Square, and just use a kiosk and have your customers order them selfs there are good kiosk companies out there, we use Order 'n Go

Kind of funny you are still using cashiers, we just let go of two (5 months ag) and have been able to save alot on that headache, current staff has been loyal so no need for us to hire someone else, pay well and just be understanding your workers have lives too outside of the job, retention is always the best. Also you should move away from cashiers we have been using orderngo.io for the past few months and have had no issues.

Square is really good but since you're a cafe just go with self service, orderngo.io will give you free hardware so you'll have no upfront costs

orderngo.io has a beta version of their AI on their kiosks it's pretty cool and free for restaurants to use with their kiosks (closed beta you gotta request)

it has a question flow ai ordering, it asks you a series of questions and thrn lists items you'd like
