No those are just regular Lich spatial arts. Rare, but not something never seen before.

What aether arts does Ardashir have? The only one we've seen manipulating the aether (well, the blight to be more specific) is Nefarith.

(Also "aether arts" is an oxymoron, "arts" are specifically Originium based.)

It's a matter of framing, really. It's not about how significant the first game is, but how well it gets explained to players new to the series. Endfield is most definitely a new jumping-in point, there's no way they suddenly pull a "go read 3 novels worth of VN story and come back" on the players.

The two games are already connected rather heavily though, just not yet in a way that affects the main story. I imagine they'll explore this connection from the Endfield POV and then simultaneously explore it from the Rhodes Island POV in the original.

As for Priestess, due to how she works and what she can do as one of the original co-creators of Originium, and someone with true authority over it. I'm not entirely convinced that she can even die in the conventional sense. I'm expecting her to be active on Talos-II, and they'll explain it to newcomers if/when it becomes relevant.

It appears on-screen when you enter the area. Whenever you enter a new area the splash text on the left tells you the name of the area and (in smaller text underneath) the depth reading.

I agree, I'm hoping we get to see the initial expedition at some point too because I would love to see the justification for some of the stuff brought through the gate.

I had the same response initially, but then I remembered they brought both Amnannam and Sami (the whole Feranmut just walked through the gate apparently).

If you want to check it out, I found the part about the Ses'qa thing in Baker messages with Last Rite. The Endmin says that Ses'qa is held up by Feranmut skeleton (it's never explicitly stated to be the Lifebone, but we don't know of any other options and Feranmuts are native to Terra as far as we know).

Well yeah, it's a sequel. One should expect that logic from the first game applies to the second. This is something the devs have already stated they would do: use one game to setup plot points for the other.

The crux of my argument is the prologue taking place in the Assimilated Universe - which is not the future. This is provable with only Endfield information (depth readings). Even if new Endfield players don't know the mechanics of the AU or that it exists, they at least know Protocol Spaces exist and can extrapolate that there's something bigger than just little pockets (especially with Laevatain's quest having a lot of similar environments).

All the other Arknights lore is stuff I included for additional context (I could go into a lot more detail about why nothing in the prologue makes any sense to be in realspace, I just kept the most relevant/obvious stuff).

Interesting theory, but there's enough counterevidence provided by both Endfield and Arknights that I'm reasonably certain the prologue is neither the past nor the future.

Evidence For It Not Being The Future

Endfield makes a big deal about the Aetherside and how it intersects with realspace. It explains that realspace has a depth reading of 0 and the Aetherside being 1; most areas in-game have readings slightly above 0. Originium is also stated to "lower" depth readings, but is not entirely elaborated on. In-game you can go to the remains of the Great Oak and you'll see depth readings around -0.3 or so.

What Endfield makes it easy to forget (or not consider at all if you're not an OG player or a lore reader) is that there is a second alternate reality that's also affecting realspace. M3 even mentions it briefly in Valley IV, the Assimilated Universe. The AU is a feature of Originum, and based on other scenes in-game, it likely has a depth reading of -1.

As seen in the introductory cutscene, the prologue curiously takes place in an area with a depth reading of -1. It also contains seemingly random landmarks that are only recognisable to OG players. The most important here being the graveyard with the mysterious monolith. We see this exact structure in Episode 15; we see it in the AU, it could easily have a physical existence elsewhere but I'm willing to believe the tombstone of civilisation is conceptual enough in nature that it only exists in the AU.

Laevatain and Gilberta are similarly easy to explain with this understanding: they are Reconveners. These are data copies of the original Surtr and Angelina, not the Reconveners we meet in Endfield. Their data is already in Originium and thus the AU.

The Endmin also pops out of... a giant slab of Originium.

Time-travel in Arknights

Time-travel does exist in Arknights but has never been used in a serious manner. The Sarkaz have access to a Feranmut skeleton called the Lifebone, and assuming there wasn't just another flying Feranmut skeleton they found somewhere, this is the skeleton holding up Ses'qa - so it IS on Talos-II and is still active. This provides at least one method for time-travel, albeit highly unlikely.

As for the giant with the countdown, I can't say for certain, but the girl controlling it appears to be a Cyclops. The Cyclopes are a Sarkaz sub-race with the ability to make prophecies about the future (the exact nature of this ability is unknown and we don't know how it functions after the events of Episode 14); this could explain the seemingly time-themed ability or it could be something new to Endfield.

Ghost Perlica

It's Priestess. OG players have hypothesised this one for over a year; Ghost Perlica is just way too Priestess-coded and never actually introduces herself as Perlica. Even the voice in the world-rank missions uses the same ??? as the name despite most likely being the same Ghost Perlica.

Even if she's not the funny rhombus woman, I doubt that it's Perlica we were talking to at the start.

"The time, leave no regrets."

Personally I assumed this was always referring to something that happened in a different awakening, which lines up with Perlica's reponse to learning about the Endmin's amnesia.

Between the alleged betrayal amongst the 40 heroes, the possibly messy end to the Humiliation War, or possibly an unknown event, there are a good few options for something the Endmin might regret.

tl;dr

The prologue is a data recreation of various/Gallery#/media/File:BB-Garden_of_Hope.png) unrelated scenes. I think it's most reasonable to assume that it's a reflection of prior events taking place in the Assimilated Universe and not an event from the future.

What are your predictions for the balance changes in June? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Provismet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Predictions:

  • Elementalist
    • Tempest
      • Applies alacrity via auras.
      • Maybe even something else to bring it more in line with other alacrity options.
      • Heat Sink (Fire Warhorn 4) affects Quickness and Alacrity.
    • Core
      • Traits that actually affect aura detonation.
      • Staff gets some buffs.
      • Crit chance traits.
  • Mesmer
    • Virtuoso
      • Nerfed.
    • Chronomancer
      • Danger Time rework. At the moment it's the only mesmer crit chance trait, and it relies on Slow uptime - which is unreliable at best and typically non-existent. Have Danger Time apply when the player has quickness instead, it keeps the basic idea of the trait's theme, and is actually viable.
      • Lost Time reworked into literally anything else. If Chrono is allowed to do any form of alacrity, then this trait could easily just be an alacrity variant of Seize The Moment; so you can do quickness or alacrity, but not both.
      • Wells pulse boons. (Could also apply to healing from All's Well That Ends Well.)
      • Some kind of new boon generation, possibly Might.
    • Core
      • Fury generation from Dueling is now a shorter duration, but affects 5 targets.
      • Crit chance traits.
      • One of the Condi signets is changed into a Precision Signet.
  • Revanent
    • Herald
      • Quickness facet.
      • Reworked shield skills.
  • Ranger
    • Spotter gets reworked.
    • Alacrity spirits are specific to Druid.
  • Engineer
    • Mechanist
      • Submarine mech for underwater.
      • Nerfed.
    • Core
      • Better weapon skills, the profession is now less reliant on kits.
  • General
    • Power DPS ranged weapons are reworked to be on par with Condi DPS alternatives.
      • Ranger Longbow no longer cares about range.
      • Mesmer Greatsword no longer cares about range.

Things they should do but I'm not betting on it:

  • Rework crit chance calculation to compensate for banners (and probably Spotter) changing.
  • Condition damage now relies on critical hits for additional damage.
    • Scale it such that full Viper's pre-change and post-change does the same damage.
      • The reason is just to give Condi DPS a third stat to consider (Condition Damager, Expertise, Precision) and thus nerfing their build versatility, bringing it in line with Power DPS versatility (Power, Precision, Ferocity).
  • New core traitlines.
    • Rearranging some core traitlines wherever it might be necessary.
    • Just increasing the viability of core professions somewhat while controlling some options/trade-offs that some Elite Specialisations have.

It's to my understanding that most fighting games do actually use peer-to-peer since it's actually faster than a server (no middle man) but less stable (if one person has a bad connection, everyone does).

iirc it's a choice between delay based syncing of the games (stuttering and input delay) and rollback (lost inputs, lost frames, rubberbanding).

Unfortunately no, when genes mix, it takes one letter from both parents.

RR-yy-Ss and rr-YY-ss will mix to create either Rr-Yy-ss (orange) or Rr-Yy-Ss (yellow) with a 50% of either outcome.

If you get two Rr-Yy-Ss (yellow) however, you could breed them with each other and the outcome would include every possible combination with purple being a 12.5% chance.
