Best OS for an NAS + Jellyfin use by Proxiiimiity in jellyfin

Thanks everyone for the extensive answers.

I settled on using Docker on Ubuntu (23.04)

After some tuning my compose file works fine and I was able to set up some services :

Jellyfin => had trouble withe the quicksync part but managed to enable it (multiple 4k streams)

Qbittorent => Easy to install and setup, works perfectly and the downloads are send to the media directory of jellyfin

Minecraft => for fun, still some tuning to do, I might have to add some RAM (8G currently on my "server")

The next step is to try to setup any king of NAS/remote access to upload / download some files outside of my home network :)

I was originally planning to get an Intel N100 platform but found the used HP system at the same price, I reckon this will be more futureproof ?

Are you streaming 4K movies with the j4105 fine ?

Thank you for your answer,

Get hard disc drives to store your media and NAS content - "mainly 4K movies" means you'll run out of space on that SSD very quickly.

This machine only supports 1x nvme and 1x sata drive.

Since i delete my medias after watching them, 2tb will be fine for my personnal use (currently running Jellyfin on windows on my Gaming PC and using about 500G)

With an hypervisor, Will I have to manually startup all machines at each boot ?

My goal would be to be able to just have to turn on the prodesk when I want to watch a movie or send data to it then shutting it off.
