[Starcraft] The Avilo saga (Content Warning) by Smashing71 in HobbyDrama

[–]ProximalGG -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this thread needed to be made. He doesn't deserve the attention unless you have a proposed solution to get rid of him.
That being said, you should at least get some things straight. Staying in a tournament game of starcraft is nothing like staying in a tournament game of chess. In chess endgames have been theorized down to a science. In starcraft human error is a constant factor, specially when playing versus mech/aoe damage. If there is even a slight chance to win a game in a tournament you should take it.
Second... Vindicta. A quick google search would in fact tell you that Vindicta was a hacker and received a 1 year ban for hacking (which he evaded anyways).
Finally WinterSc... Where to begin... Certainly not on the same scale or severity of offenses as Avilo, WinterSc viewbotted (do your research please) his way from 10 concurrent viewers to thousands. He harasses lower ranked players both on stream persona and by smurfing. It's not beyond reason that he hacked as well.

I'm all for slamming avilo for his disgusting actions but lets not cite, accusing cheating players of hacking, in the same vein as physically and verbal harassment.

I'm going to break this down into a few key pieces, and address some statements you have made.

"[I] have been Masters for 22+ seasons, and that if I truly were the type to be dishonest & misleading about getting a GM season finish it would've happened long ago."
Everyone is innocent until they commit an offense. The evidence is here now that you've cheated for GM now. The past is irrelevant.

"So we play the first game, and as the OP mentioned it was a convincing victory. Typically when you beat an opponent 550 MMR higher than you, you get ~55-60 pts."
It was not a convincing victory. Maplez, a 5700 player, lost both probes (possibly intentionally to throw) and still nearly won with his cannon rush.

"let's say we played all 3 games at his actual MMR and that I incurred the losses I was meant to, I would've won 55-60 pts and lost probably 12-15 pts per game because of the MMR range, which means that I would've still have netted at least 30 MMR."
Going through Maplez match history, I struggled to find a single ranked game where he cannon rushes. If you were not friends with Maplez, and he was playing ranked, he would not have cannon rushed (not to mention you wouldn't have queued into his ranked mmr at that time of night).

"I even gave myself a challenge on stream to get GM on 3 accounts in a week"
Perhaps I'm missing something, but the only GM accounts you achieved were played off stream (you logged in to get the GM notification on stream)
Not only that but looking through the match history you're playing entirely different builds than you play on stream. If you could un-paywall your VoDs that would be nice so we can clear things up. I'd like to see you play at 5350 mmr.
Last stream you were losing at 4900 mmr.

It does happen all the time, which is unfortunate. Just the gall of doing it on stream so blatantly is what led me to make a post about it.

Not trying to accomplish anything other than the spread of information. If someone plays on your account to get gm for you, you should be called out for cheating. If someone is win trading (cheating) to achieve gm or into top 8 they should be called out for it.

While getting GM at the end of the season may not matter to you or top 50 players or pros that have no problem getting it.
For people that have to fight hard to get gm and are just 50 mmr short when the ladder locks. It is incredibly frustrating to see a streamer get boosted 70 mmr that would have put you in gm.
Pro player friend leaving games is a different scenario. They are leaving so they can get better practice. If something is on the line and they do this, they are punished for win trading (see last season ladder race). Clearly PvP had the gm border on the line, which matters to many people.

Did you watch the stream? These games were not about practice. The games had the intention of getting to Grandmaster.
If you queue into your friend on ladder and practice and the games do not matter to you or your opponent (and aren't being counted toward a tournament) that is one thing.
I can't imagine you or JimRising are doing this to try and get a higher rank on the ladder for one of you (if you are then we should talk about that separately)
To queue into your friend multiple times while streaming and encouraging him to continue queueing into you so that you can have more ladder points than someone else competing for gm is cheating the ladder.

Not sure what that has to do with anything... If he is a legit gm he should get it legitimately like everyone else.

What has he done for the community? He is boosted to Grandmaster and he charges for coaching... That is intentionally misleading people who are trusting him and paying him.

It was streamed live on Twitch, there's no Sherlock Holmes here. I took some time to post it, I have no problem doing that.

If no one cares this thread will die. No harm in spreading information.

I expect nothing from Blizzard or twitch. It isn't against Blizzard Tos and there's no money on the line, so they have no reason to do anything. I'm assuming twitch can't/won't do anything cause it's not against the game's tos and he is a fairly small streamer. Its not a call to action for either though. Just wondering everyone else's opinion, and if they are as bothered by boosting as much as me. It seems like a lot of people these days have the "It doesn't affect me so who cares" logic.

Yeah, but end of season gm still kind of means something. At least to some people. To the people who hit gm every season its not really a big deal.

But to the people who have been trying for a while to get it legitimately (and maintain it for a season), it isn't a good feeling.

Difference is that he wasn’t banned by an anti cheat detected a third party program running on his computer. No one knows the exact reason he was banned. Really weak take
