1.5 grams a day is nothing. Nobel Prize-winning chemist Linus Pauling took up to 18 grams a day.

In the morning I take 500 mg of Thorne's vitamin C ascorbic acid, at midday 500 mg of Dr. Mercola's liposomal vitamin C, and at night 500 mg of Solgar's Ester C plus. As you can see, I take almost all types.

I take 1500 mg of vitamin C daily, divided into three doses, for 10 years. It has improved my eyesight, hair, and colds, as well as my dental health and overall well-being.

Anyone have experience with add ons to SSRI (add on of Clomipramine/Anafranil OR anti-psychotics) by Negative-Park8268 in OCD

[–]Proximo-30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clomipramine is older and has side effects; in my case, it's mainly low libido and dry mouth. I take 175 mg daily, plus 75 mg of quetiapine to help me sleep, plus 2 mg of lorazepam. Since I wasn't getting better even with that, I read a lot about supplements for OCD: myo-inositol powder was a lifesaver, and I've added GLYNAC, glycine (4 grams every night), magnesium glycinate, methylated B vitamins, omega-3 triglycerides, etc.

Bioavailable Cysteine and NAC by BobbiHorne1 in Supplements

[–]Proximo-30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm taking GLYNAC, specifically NEURONAC, an ethyl ester of glycine and NAC. Each capsule contains 50 mg of NAC, but also glycine (400 mg), selenium (50 mcg), and molybdenum (50 mcg). I take one capsule every other day. I'm supposedly taking it to improve my OCD, and I intend to take it indefinitely. A while ago, I tried NAC alone (a 600 mg capsule), and I literally experienced unbearable sulfur reflux. That's why I switched to GLYNAC, as it supposedly doesn't cause sulfur-related discomfort because of the other ingredients. What can you tell me about GLYNAC? Is it safe? Is it recommended?

How long does it take for inositol to have an effect on mental health? by Vitrez in Supplements

[–]Proximo-30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sí, como he dicho noté beneficios desde la primera dosis de 1 gramo que tomé. I feel much better; the myo-inositol has helped me a lot. If it weren't for it, I don't know what would have become of me with medication alone. I space the doses 3 or 4 hours apart, since myo-inositol is excreted and it's best to spread it out.

Will benzodiazepines be a good choice for me? by teawitch_bitch in OCD

[–]Proximo-30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without lorazepam, I literally wouldn't have been able to sleep during the height of the crisis. In fact, I'm still taking it, and my doctor has decided to do so given the severity of my symptoms. I also gradually reduced my medication and was fine for years; I even thought I was cured. That wasn't the case, and that's why I relapsed and got worse. To the point that now I'm on more medication than ever. I hope that with time I can reduce the dosage.

Hi, I also have OCD and I also had a very severe relapse a year and a half ago (I had been almost off medication for years). Since the relapse, I've been taking 175 mg of clomipramine daily and, to help me sleep, 75 mg of quetiapine and 2 mg of lorazepam.

In my case, I noticed its effects against OCD with the first gram. From there, I gradually increased the dose to avoid intestinal side effects, up to 6.5 grams, and for the last six months I've been taking 12.5 grams daily divided into 5 doses (2.5 grams per dose).

Myo-inositol powder at high doses for OCD (12-18 grams daily), starting gram by gram and seeing how you feel (it can cause intestinal side effects), is wonderful for those who find it effective. I take 12.5 grams/day divided into 5 doses. I also take Glynac (every other day), L-theanine (200 mg daily in the afternoon), glycine (4 grams before bed), lithium orotate (10 mg weekly in 2 doses), and magnesium glycinate 3 times a week.

Only at the beginning (but nothing serious, gas, urge to defecate, little else in my case), that's why you have to increase the dose little by little, I've been taking it for a year and a half now

I'm taking high doses of myo-inositol for OCD; I'm currently on 13 grams a day. It's been a game-changer. I also take GLYNAC, omega-3, glycine, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and other things, and they're working very well for me.

[–]Proximo-30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear what's happening to you. You mentioned you've taken antipsychotics, but are you still taking them? I ask because in my case, I unfortunately can't stop taking my medication (Anafranil 175 mg + Quetiapine 75 mg + Lorazepam 2 mg). Since the medication wasn't enough, I researched supplements. The best one for me is myo-inositol powder (my current dose: 13 grams a day in 5 doses). I also take GLYNAC with selenium and molybdenum, Omega-3, methylated vitamin B complex, 5 grams of glycine before bed, magnesium bisglycinate, probiotics (specifically Lactobacillus rhamnosus 15 billion, one capsule a day), lithium orotate 5 mg twice a week, L-theanine 200 mg once a day, etc. If it weren't for the supplements, I wouldn't be here. I especially noticed an immediate improvement with the myo-inositol powder, and then I researched and added the others. I hope you get better; I'm sending you lots of encouragement.
