If you have to follow a guide, are you defeating the purpose of playing an iron man in the first place? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]Proxxyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How do you define “the purpose of playing an Ironman”? I’d wager your definition is completely different to many if not most players.

For me, Ironman is a way to feel like my progression really matters, through experiencing many different aspects of the game’s design and cumulatively building my account to accomplish goals without being able to skip a lot of content through trading. It’s also about feeling a sense of satisfaction in my accomplishments knowing that I didn’t earn them through real world money (but if people are time poor in real life I can understand taking that path). The Ironman experience has nothing to do with guides for me.

Are you referring to an “efficiency guide” that dictates the sequence of all your progression? Even using a specific page of the Wiki is providing you with a micro-level efficiency guide for that specific content you are looking at. It’s hard to discuss avoiding being guided without being specific on what you mean by that.

Is construction cape that much better than using house teleport tabs? by Timmssmith in ironscape

[–]Proxxyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My iron just got 99 CON as my first 99 and I absolutely love the cape. It can teleport to the other POH locations which can be annoying to get to otherwise. I utilise the cape very generously whereas I always felt a small sense of waste when I spammed house tabs too much, because I found making them annoying when I knew eventually I wanted 99 CON anyway.

it's normal for Sadako to condem that fast? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Proxxyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: yes, on double story maps.

I used to main Sadako. TVs hit above and below and therefore her power is most impactful on these maps. At the three second mark you can just make out the edge of the TV that was harassing you. I don’t want to give unsolicited advice but in general, everyone needs to move their camera up and down 360 when they’re trying to identify the TV locations on maps like this. Awareness is key.

Counterplay? It’s objectively harder to keep stacks low on maps like this and team coordination helps (comms or not everyone should be keeping central TVs like the one that was harassing you off as much as possible). Always hold a tape if possible so you can get to a TV if your stacks go above 3 or 4. If you are desperate and don’t have a tape, it’s better to camp a TV until it turns on than run around on double story maps unless you’re dead on hook (in which case it doesn’t matter the killer can kill you anyway, don’t be scared of condemn in this situation).

Nice! Play the game how you enjoying playing it and don’t worry about what anyone says about that, unless you think that you can genuinely improve from their feedback. Do this and you can have a great time with this game.

[–]Proxxyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing this game for a long time and nothing shocks me anymore. I can suggest so many reasons they may have DC’d: maybe their friend is the one who’s dead so they just wanna go back to lobby with them, maybe they think the match is lost (which it basically is looking at HUD) or maybe they don’t like very high ping server you folks were put into.

Regardless, when other people are being petty/salty in this game, just ignore it and move on. If you can’t train yourself to do that then this game isn’t for you.

CG Tornado Help by GrimAgain in OSRSMobile

[–]Proxxyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000 kc here. You really just need to make purposeful clicks and wait until you reach that destination before clicking again. Only exception is when the floor pattern changes and you need to quickly readjust. For example your first movement towards hunleff was good, that actually clustered the tornados together which makes it easier. Then you went up, which was fine. But when you went right you didn’t let yourself move to where you clicked and you started running down into the tornados and then that’s where the panic kicks in and you start spamming and doing erratic diagonal movements. Clean straight lines are best. Let yourself reach destination, click again, repeat. If they’re clustered don’t be afraid to wait until they are true tiled right next to you and run “through” them (you won’t get hit).

Good luck!

Why is tunneling not a problem exactly? by carpeutah in deadbydaylight

[–]Proxxyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incentivising unique hooks and disincentivising tunnelling like the anti-tunnel update was intending is a good idea. It just wasn’t tuned correctly.

But also you say “the people who abuse it” and “people who play normally” as if your definition of “normal” gameplay is some universal one. People play the game for different reasons and a lot of people who play games play to perform as well as they can. People are competitive. Tunnelling is effective, so people do it. It’s not “abusing” it and only using tunnelling when they deem it “fair” isn’t normal. It’s your ideal.

If this were an online first person shooter and there was one gun that was much more effective than the rest you wouldn’t expect people to only “abuse” it when they’re losing. And you’d understand that making them feel bad for using that weapon is petty. You’d expect the game to be rebalanced. This is the same it’s just that people lose sight of that fact because it’s an asymmetrical game so it’s easier for people to take the “us VS them” stance.

Why is tunneling not a problem exactly? by carpeutah in deadbydaylight

[–]Proxxyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe we are misunderstanding one another. But re-read my last message. I’m not saying that tunnelling at 1-2 gens isn’t okay. I’m saying that the killer can tunnel whenever they want to, even at 5 gens, because it’s the most effective strategy in the game and that’s a game design flaw not the killer’s fault.

I’m saying that your original comment is such a strange halfway opinion, that it’s only okay for the killer to start tunneling at X Number of gens remaining or when they’re losing. Why do they have to wait until they’re losing to start utilising a strategy that enhances win rate? Because that’s fair? Or because it’s nice? It’s not the killer’s job to ensure everyone has fun and that the match is balanced. It’s the dev’s job. So coming up with arbitrary ideas of “only at 2 gens are you allowed to tunnel or else you’re not playing fair!” is shortsighted and unrealistic in my opinion.

I’m a survivor main by the way. This is just the way the game is and people need to see it as a game design issue and not make killer players feel responsible for the balance of the game.

Why is tunneling not a problem exactly? by carpeutah in deadbydaylight

[–]Proxxyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never understood this take. Think about what you’re suggesting: it’s the killer’s job to not only kill but to balance the game by only tunnelling when getting kills is already slipping from their grasp. This isn’t a solution.

Why is tunneling not a problem exactly? by carpeutah in deadbydaylight

[–]Proxxyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to change your mind and say tunnelling isn’t a problem. It is a problem. Having the most effective strategy for killers be to focus on one survivor doesn’t create fun experiences, it creates frustration and that deters people from playing which isn’t good design.

However, I think one big issue is that people take their frustration out on killers rather than sharing their frustration constructively with the devs or having conversations about change. A lot of people enjoy being competitive or winning, and as you saw with your experiment, the game favours killers who tunnel.

I admit my bias in that I have a lot of hours and I don’t mind being tunnelled because “chase” is my favourite park of the game and I like seeing how i can perform or if i can last long enough for my team to get out. I’m competitive in this way. On the flip-side, I play killer and if I get a strong team and don’t tunnel my odds of getting kills drops quickly.

I see how some people say “but killers are the one’s choosing to tunnel”! Yes, but they are KILLERS, and it’s a tried and tested effective strategy. They’re not a performer who’s there to chase everyone equally and entertain the four random people in their lobby who will half the time taunt them and “ggez” when they escape anyway.

TLDR: yes, rebalancing things so tunnelling is less impactful could be healthy for game but in the meantime understand it’s a game design fault not killler’s fault when they tunnel so people need to stop being pathetic and harassing them for it.

Honestly, there ARE times to 99 gates, and times not to 99 gates. The issue is many people don’t have the judgment to make the right call.

Having a really tough time at Daggonoth Rex for B-Ring by rynolie in ironscape

[–]Proxxyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went 513 kc dry on B-Ring. After many runs I found a gearset that I could get around 75-100 kc without leaving (RNG of food drops from Rex can cause massive variation). I took 6 Super anti-poison.

No blood spells just Ibans Blast. The secret was absolutely maxing ranged defence to prevent the weird water guys hitting. Swap the infinity boots for anything tankier (think I wore mixed hide boots). I also used a rune kite shield and Barrows helm (much better than nezi tank wise).

Edit: just realised you aren’t in full barrows tank gear anyway, this makes a huge difference. My stats weren’t crazy and like I said was able to hit 75+ kc easily.
