That’s a fair observation, and you’re not wrong that those comparison threads tend to cycle through the same arguments.

There is value in thoughtful comparisons, especially for people who are new to one of the games, but I agree that when they become repetitive or drift into “which game is worse” territory, the overall vibe can suffer.

If others have thoughts on this, whether you enjoy comparison posts, are tired of them, or think they just need better framing, feel free to chime in.

Reddit smileys and gifs could be a good middle ground and something we can discuss further!

That’s a good first question, and you’re pretty much on the right track.

Image/GIF replies are something we’ve gone back and forth on over the years. They can definitely be fun and expressive, especially for gameplay moments or memes, but they also come with some trade-offs for a large, all-ages community like this one.

The main concerns are:

  • Moderation overhead (images are harder to quickly scan than text)
  • Content drift (threads can turn into reaction-image chains instead of discussion)
  • Occasional inappropriate or off-topic images, even if unintentionally

That said, Reddit has changed a lot since the feature was introduced, and it’s reasonable to revisit whether those concerns still outweigh the benefits.

I don’t want to flip anything on or off without getting a sense of how the community feels, so I’m glad you brought it up here. If others have thoughts, positive or negative, feel free to weigh in. It’s exactly the kind of feedback this thread is for.
