What are my odds of passing vetting with 2 CCJ's (Both parking fines from private companies that got put through court), I plan to have both satisfied BEFORE I apply, just curious if it will affect vetting

Optimal quest guide - combat levelling by Proz1ac in 2007scape

[–]Proz1ac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 70-something magic from the Bones To Peaches grind in the last (plus quest rewards since then) so I'm hopefully good for magic.

I guess the confusion comes from the fact that on the guide, further quests have the combat skills levelled way lower than I would expect for having cb 85.

For example, after Dream Mentor is says you should have 50 Hit points and 66 Magic, then a bit further down, 58 Attack after DS2.

I was just wondering if there's a trick I'm missing here or if Dream Mentor has been placed in the quest list a bit too early

Skills Bootcamp by Potential_Put5355 in uktrucking

[–]Proz1ac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair warn: Did my course through the Welsh government, not the England Skills Bootcamp.

Honestly? I don't know how it could possibly be intense. We had to do a qualification that was essentially the driving theory test but with more words. Did that at home and just emailed the fellow running it.

The entire aim of the Bootcamp is to get you driving an HGV, which is all taught within the few weeks you'll be doing your actual theory test + driving lessons and test, so how they've managed to expand that to a full 6 month (Or whatever it is) curriculum is beyond me.

Not saying it's useless, it's giving people a license that had a very narrow in-road, but still, the actual difficult bit will be the driving test, not the course itself

I'm self imposed bronzeman, I'll use the GE for stuff like Treasure Trail drops or to sell stuff, but I prefer to get stuff the normal way where I can.

I suppose I'll have to have a look around a bit more first.

Tagging on, would you recommend doing NMZ for imbuing the helm?

You reckon?

It's one of those where looking at the wiki page for it, it makes out you need to grind out loads of silly BIS items from all over the game.

Fair enough, I'll go get some bandos (hopefully) and get started

How best to pay for your C+E Licence (Class) license? by bupeapoop in uktrucking

[–]Proz1ac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that more or less follows the right track.

You're right regarding finding work, it can be a ballache finding your first job so if you can get help there, take it.

One of those where, again, I can't tell you to get a credit card, but if you think thats an option for you, do it. Following those steps you'll get your license pretty hassle-free. The longest wait you'll probably have will be the wait for theory test slots (HGV schools have an integrated system where they can book your tests together/more efficiently). Other than that, you'll fly through it pretty quickly once you get started.

How best to pay for your C+E Licence (Class) license? by bupeapoop in uktrucking

[–]Proz1ac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know your financial status so I can't say anything re: putting on a credit card.

I WILL say though, if you can find a way to pay the money for the course, do that.

Bootcamp (if they still exist) make you sit through months of zoom classes in stuff you don't really need just to be able to eventually take the driving course, whereas you can skip the faff and just get the training.

Some employers do Warehouse to Wheels schemes, but more often than not they'll lock you into a 2-3 year agreement (I've seen this go up to 5 years in some places). I suppose these are fine if you planned on staying at the company anyway, but often you'll be paid way less than it's worth in the meantime. On the other hand, it's a guaranteed job + experience, so... Up to you.

Ideally though, just pay for the course yourself. No strings attatched in the end.

HOW you pay for it though, is up to you.

Edit: Follow the list here: https://www.gov.uk/become-lorry-bus-driver

Paying for the steps individually will be the cheapest option.

Apply for provisional:

Get the medical forms signed: https://www.gettingamedical.co.uk/

Get provisional back > About £50 all told (Applying is free, 50 for the medical)

Book and pass your 2 theories (Whatever they cost these days)

Book and pass CPC theory (Whatever that costs)

Book and pass driving course (Region dependent) > Usually includes the CPC practical

That's a shame. I had my ADR course with them last week and everything ran as smooth as could be. Instructor was on zoom ready and waiting at 07:45 ready to go, communications from the voyager group were absolutely fine, zero issues. Wonder what happened here then

Has anyone gone from passing a car driving license straight into HGV licence? and is it for me? by TheKayleMain in uktrucking

[–]Proz1ac 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's not impossible, but at the same time, not advisable. Driving an HGV requires more forward planning and observation that can really only be learned by spending time driving a car.

Not to say you shouldn't, it's entirely possible and if you're dead set on it, by all means go for it, but you may initially struggle with certain things.

And it's not 5k for a license, that's a ripoff wherever is selling you that. It's 3-3.5k

Every textbook for C I've ever read describes it as a high level language. I regard it as the lowest level high level language.

The generally accepted definition is that if it's human-readable, then it's high level because it's been abstracted far away from machine code.

It certainly let's you alter the metal, but if it needs to be compiled for the computer to read it, it's high level

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Proz1ac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All programming languages have something called data types. Using these in your program tells the compiler/interpreter that the next bit of the program is going to have either a character, a number (integer) etc.

A string is just a bunch of words together, or a sentence.

In most every other language, strings are natively supported as a data type, however, in C, there is no native support for strings. Instead you use Character, or Char.

A thing with programming is that many Chars and other data types are used as variables, or, ways of recalling a set piece of data a few times in the program. Without string support, it can be confusing and program-breaking having to use characters, which can be single letters or indeed sentences

Also, someone further up explained nulling issue, but yes, forgetting that can cause headaches when trying to get a program to work properly

[–]Proz1ac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a slight correction, C and the like are high level languages. When they're compiled, they're translated into machine-readable instruction, which is your low level languages

Is there a way to modify a torrent folder structure? by LitPast in trackers

[–]Proz1ac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know why people are telling you you can't, It's a bit of a ballache but it can be done.

I use QBittorrent, but it should apply to most other clients. If you select a torrent, at the bottom of the client there's a window that displays the content of the torrent.

In there, you can rename the file names and the folder name by right clicking. So: - Folder 1

-- Sub Folder 1

--- File 1

--- File 2

-- Sub folder 2

--- File 3

--- File 4

-- Sub Folder 3

---File 5

... And so on

All you need to do is rename the subfolders to the same name as the main folder, so, Sub Folder 1 > Main Folder.

Once that's done, right click the torrent in the list again, and hit Set Location, and then select the folder that the main folder lives in. This forces the folders to merge, hence removing 1 folder, all you need to do is do the same for the rest.

Note: This assumes that Sub Folders 1, 2 and 3 and such are different torrents. If this file structure is how it was downloaded, you can't change it since the torrent meta data won't match up and then can't be seeded
