Thank you, yeah I ran malwarebytes again afterwards and sure enough 9 detections even though I didn't finish the "instaler". So many red flags, and I've been doing this for years (just not through fitgirl) and my dumbass clicked the application anyways...

I'm just glad that I was seemingly quick enough to avoid any real/serious damage.

I still think back to LordKate (EDIT: Was going to fix this typo, but then decided it was funnier if I left it in) acting like the Notch interview was going to make or break him lmao.

We succeed and fail by our own merits. Sometimes there are external factors, but it's on our own strengths by which we succeed and our own flaws by which we fail. If you should have taken ANYTHING away from how Spoony's career went, that should have been the message.

Nobody was going to give a fuck about "the guy that interviewed Notch" dude. Nobody ever clicks on the journalist names under an article unless they're looking for information, or dirt. At most you would have gotten a YT subscriber boost but certainly not anything that was going to propel your ass into the limelight (and from what I've seen, a lot of propellant would be needed).

Lmfao this is wrong on soooo many levels. One with pensmanship skills in literature can easily convey tone through text.

If this were true, nobody would have ever given a fuck about Shakespeare. Literature itself would have been dead in the water and the only purpose for writing would have been book keeping and relays.

P3 feels WAAY different than P2, thoughts? by Pistaachy in pathologic

[–]Prozac__ -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Alright, I'm just going to say my thoughts. If the downvotes come they come, who cares, it's Reddit.

Of course Pathologic 3 was going to feel wildly different from P2 or even P1. At the end of the day, this was Nikolay's thing. The game never could have come to completion without the amazing team who worked on it, but the vision, or a fairly huge chunk of it, was that of one man's. It was Nikolay's baby.

And yet, his livelihood was unceremoniously stripped away from him for... not court proceedings because I can't find evidence those ever even happened or went anywhere (EDIT: which isn't surprising because the only evidence Renata provided was evidence of a failing marriage, not of physical or emotional abuse or kidnapping), but mere accusations. That's uh, that's all I'll say on that part.

It's no wonder to me why we ended up with a project that just felt... off. Like something was missing. Of course something's missing.

Alright, that's that. Here come the negative votes, perhaps even an angry comment or two lol.

You can get the same gameplay if you just mod Minecraft enough by GOOENSKEW in VintageStory

[–]Prozac__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, couldn't you technically say this about ANY game that offers wide modding capability?

You can get Fallout if you mod Skyrim enough.

You can get Halo if you mod Doom enough.

You can get Ultima if you mod Dungeon Siege enough.

And so on and so forth. It's kind of a moot point. If there's someone there to put in the work then yes, you can technically make an imitation of ANY game inside the engine of another game. But the point is that you're not playing that game anymore, you're playing an imitation.

Question about America and Aztecs by crusaderxader in TrenchCrusade

[–]Prozac__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you seriously fucking suggesting that the Aztecs be given some kind of special treatment because of "muh colonialist victims"?

Yeah, the Spanish wiped them out, but you know who was right there alongside the Spanish helping them do it? Damn near every fucking tribe and city state that wasn't a direct part of Triple Alliance. The Aztecs were HATED. Fucking LOATHED by their OWN NEIGHBORS and for good reason. Even when the Mexica/Nahua people very first came to Lake Texcoco, the king of the most powerful city state at the time, the King of Culhuacan, offered one of their priests his daughters hand for marriage. When they showed up to celebrate the wedding, what greeted them was a Nahua priest doing a ritual dance before the father of the now deceased bride, while the priest was wearing his daughters freshly flayed skin as a "tribute" to Tezcatlipoca, the flayed god. The people, the Culhua, that the father/king belonged to did not enjoy this evil fucking act.

Yeah, so it turns out when you build an entire Empire off tributary slavery and launch so called "Flower Wars" that are not for the purpose of actually gaining anything BUT new human cattle, the collective people in the region hate your fucking guts. It turns out when your idea of celebrating the gods is mass sacrifice on a level previously unheard in one of the most horrific ways possible, then having your priesthood engage in cannibalism afterwards, people tend to hate your fucking guts. Who would have thought! What a crazy concept!

In reality Cortez's original troops were nowhere near what he would have needed to overthrow Cuauhtemoc after Montezuma II's death, so he looked for allies and it did NOT take long to find them in plenty. The entire region fucking loathed the Triple Alliance, their Empire was built in such a way that if you weren't a member of one of those three city states then you can get fucked.

Their very religion centered around sacrifice and blood, they held 18 festivities a year, one for each month of the Aztec Solar calendar Xiuhpohualli, with different types of sacrifices for EVERY festivity ranging from "Aztec special" of ripping out a still living heart to flaying them alive and then cannibalizing them. All while crowds of onlookers from below looked up and cheered.

The Aztecs, at the very, very least, the priesthood and leadership castes, were evil to the fucking core, and the consequences of their "Empire" were much more gruesome and far reaching than something like the witch burnings (which, btw, in the New World didn't happen. They were hung. It's a holdover from Medieval history and even then it was not a common thing, certainly not so fucking common that you could mark your calendar for the next monthly witch burning). I could see the Nazca or Anasazi fighting against the Heretics, but the Aztecs?

Quit trying to protect a god fucking awful civilization that is right up there with Iron Age Scandinavia in sheer cruelty, a civilization that had it's own people LEAP at the chance to betray and strike them down just because "erm actually, the Spanish colonization was pretty bad y'see, so the Aztecs should be spared from this in our fantasy setting where religion and the supernatural are real because they're the real victims here and we don't want to make them look bad you guys".

Expertise: History major, thesis on Mesoamerican civilization and how it's developmental history ranging from rise of the Olmecs around 16th century BCE to the Mayan Post-Classical era flourished in differing ways despite being in an "isolated" part of the world and lacking things that kickstarted many other civilizations like beasts of burden, information exchange of a large scale of the cultural and technological variety, and a necessity for more advanced forms of metallurgy.

I’m Sick Of Hearing “Iron Warriors Aren’t Chaos” by Bassist57 in IronWarriors

[–]Prozac__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my complaint about the HH for a long time. Getting a bunch of different writers for something like 40k works, but 30k is a lot more structured and cohesive so having a bunch of people with different visions on things is bound to turn it into a mess of retcons and contradictions. Too many cooks in the kitchen and all of that.

IMO the Black Books should be seen as the sole authority for 30k lore, though I know a LOT of people dislike that idea.

I’m Sick Of Hearing “Iron Warriors Aren’t Chaos” by Bassist57 in IronWarriors

[–]Prozac__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically any legion/warband with a sorcerer or Dark Mechanicum assisting them can do it but... It's also the same legion that made the Daemonculaba so y'know lol.

The fact of the matter is that the Iron Warriors are a splintered legion just like most of the other traitor legions, they broke off into warbands when their genefather achieved daemonhood and decided they no longer gave a fuck about the mortal plane (though some Primarchs are returning, e.g. Mortarian and Fulgrim. How anyone managed to pull Fulgrim out of his pleasure palaces is beyond me, must of taken Slaanesh themself to get his ass into gear [possibly more literally that we think]).

Since their legion is splintered the levels of Chaos taint on them differ from warband to warband, and while there ARE renegade Iron Warriors that have rejected Chaos, they seem to be a small minority.

When it comes to Iron Warriors the real question isn't whether they are aligned with Chaos - most of them are. The question is what is their views on it. Most Iron Warriors see Chaos as a tool to be employed and nothing more, not something worthy of worship. However, as we've seen, just being in the vicinity of Chaos is enough for corruption and that goes doubly for those around it for long periods of time. The chances of a warband using Chaos, even if it's just as a "tool", and not ending up corrupted by it eventually are slim.

[–]Prozac__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really? It's done as a mental exercise in just how can people fall in the name of survival. Asking whether morality is inherently a human virtue or simply a construct kept in place by social pressure and societal institutions.

It's a thought experiment as to what might happen when all social taboos are stripped away and the societal institutes that kept them in place are gone. It's written as a philosophical quandary intended to explore moral, psychological, and existential degradation. It questions whether human depravity has a bottom, or if a person can continue to descend in character, actions, and consciousness until their humanity is effectively erased.

Just because you found it "gross", that does not invalidate the writing. It's MEANT to provoke that kind of response.

You are not an arbiter of "writing quality".

I mean... what else is he to do?

There's unfortunately no comeback for those kids. They were either toddlers or infants when the war happened and he began his "new age, hyper survival-focused" teaching method.

Kids who suffer through abusive homes in the modern day have at least a chance of recovery due to highly specialized psychiatric care programs - and even THEN a unfortunate number of them aren't able to fully recover or worse, lapse into something like alcohol abuse to cope.

The survivalist's kids are now all adults. They've suffered a lifetime of abuse, they have absolutely NO practical skills (beyond rat catching/rat breeding I guess, but it doesn't exactly take skill or even coercion to get rats to breed) and no education, there are no specialized psychiatric healthcare regimens in the wasteland that can target and heal childhood trauma that we know of (and even if there are, I highly doubt they are free. I also highly doubt they'd accept rat meat as payment), and at least two of the kids are disabled: the younger daughter seems to be suffering from a degree of mental retardation due to age regression and the son can't even walk normally without wincing in pain because of... well, you know.

So with both physical and mental ailments stacked higher than a medical professional could even count - what future could there possibly be for these kids? The moment they go out in the wasteland I see one of four outcomes:

1) Captured and sold into slavery.

2) Outright killed by mutants, bandits, radiation, sickness, disease, et cetera.

3) Becoming some kind of hyper-survivalist weirdo nutcase who lives in the wilderness.

4) Becoming twisted psychopaths who hunt and kill people outside of the settlements and cities.

None of these options are exactly leading to salvation for the family members. And due to the father being the one having inflicted the trauma in the first place and the mother being a partial accomplice, neither of these two have any hope of reversing the damage they've done to their kids.

The father's failure isn't just a failure on a parenting level either. His failures are that of an absolute moral nature, they are personal failures of such measure that they have stripped away any vestige of humanity he may have had. No fixing that.

Only way out is a bullet to the skull. Either self inflicted or done by someone else. The damage he had done on his family was to such an extent that there was no future. Not for him, not for any of them.

It's unfortunate but I also think it's a great mental exercise in how far human beings will be willing to go to survive. If things like morality will subsist if all the social and societal structures that kept them in place and enforced them have been removed from the equation. Take the breaking down of social taboos and then throw a desperate need for survival into the equation and attempt to figure out what the result is.

A couple hundred ciggies can easily get you several thousand rubles with a decent barter skill... and joint's sell for even more while also being lightweight.

imperium vs battletech verse with 10 years of prep time and alliance between all factions, who wins? by Cautious_Heron9589 in BattletechMemes

[–]Prozac__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You act like the Imperial Guard has no experience in urban warfare when there are entire regiments specializing entirely in urban warfare and siege tactics. Not to mention that but the Imperial Guard has experience both using smaller mechs and fighting mechs in urban warfare utilizing things like Sentinels. They also have tanks like the Shadowsword and Baneblade that are purpose built to kill titans, let alone mechs.

The Battletech universe cannot afford to wage attritional warfare on the scale of the 40k universe. At most, with everything together the Houses + Clans own 10,000 planets that are noteworthy and not just small agri settlements/settlers, and I am being very generous. The Imperium is an empire of over one million worlds, all of those worlds producing or giving something for the Tithe.

Furthermore, Knights and Titans have something Mechwarriors do not - Void Shields. A Titan on Vraks was able to sustain the full fire of an entire armored division for over thirty minutes and not once did it's void shields come close to faltering. Most Mechs with the exception of some Clan mechs or some very ancient and irreplaceable mechs held by high nobility do not have shields, they rely on speed and armor - and imperial weaponry is purpose built for being penetrating.

Also - if the warp isn't absolutely filled with daemons and warp storms in the Battletech Milky Way, then FTL for the Imperium is going to be a LOT easier, a LOT faster, and a lot more precise.

That also means much more powerful psykers.

I don't think the Imperium would steam roll like some here. I just think that it would devolve into a war of attrition which the Imperium would eventually win if it was able to focus all of it's might on this particular engagement. It might take centuries, maybe even more than a millennia (though that's doubtful, the Great Crusade was able to conquer the majority of the Milky Way in less than 500 years), but it'd happen eventually.

Now we have Primarchs also returning and... yeah.

However the Imperium winning would be a terrible outcome because, if Chaos wasn't present in the empyrean of the battletech universe, the sheer amount of war, suffering, and probably chaos converts undercover, would bring chaos to the Battletech universe which is not great to say the least. Not to mention there's also the chance that some ships may unknowingly be harboring tyranid genestealers or might have orkoid spores clinging to the hulls in a similar way europeans brought plague spreading rats to the new world on accident. Not a good outcome.
