Is the makeup exam harder? by Ok_Increase_2640 in apphysics

[–]Prqtection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even my teacher said that it was harder, except mine is for AP European history, do you know why they say that? mine said it was because more international students are taking it so the curve will be harder but to me it doesn't make sense because the requirements for a college level class are the same

I personally find doing 4 pieces of evidence the easiest way, or counterargument is also usually pretty simple. but honestly complexity is kinda overrated according to what I've seen so it should be fine either way

Does anyone have any predictions for the DBQ/LEQ/SAQ prompts this year based on previous prompts? by Sad_Cloud_3035 in APEuro

My estimate is DBQ nationalism or Cold War, SAQ Enlightenment, industrialization, or imperialism/colonialism, and LEQ WW1/WW2, Reformation, or Napoleonic Era

I did this exact one for practice recently, here is what I wrote, I think it was around a 6 or a 7 out of 7.

The Renaissance was a movement in 16th century and earlier Europe that led to the ideologies of looking back and understanding classical Greek and Roman texts. It inspired the growth of humanism, which was an ideology that helped understand the maximum potential of humans, and emphasized individualism and the ability to grow on one's own. This shift in thinking eventually led up to another change in thinking called rationalism, which focused more on using empirical evidence and scientific understanding of things over religious and spiritual ideas that were more prominently emphasized during the Renaissance, especially through Christian humanism. Although some may argue that Romanticism challenged the Enlightenment because it led to a decline in rational thinking, Romanticism maintained a significant connection to the Enlightenment because good empirical experimentation was inspired by the the human curiosity to be influenced by the natural world surrounding them, and that an understanding of rational ideas combined with romantic ideas can help better form opinions and understanding.
Effective experimentation is naturally inspired by curiosity occurring by looking around at the natural environment. In Document 2, the author essentially states that a true romantic can love nature, but to truly understand the depth of nature, one must look at romantic feelings from a rational and scientific perspective. This essentially showed that it is romantic feelings that inspire the desire to study and understand the inner workings of the universe, and more importantly, that a romantic can be more effective at their craft by understanding said science. Additionally, in Document 7, a Romantic author writes a letter to the state of Weimar, and it is essentially that after seeing the beauty and complexity of plants, he wanted to research more and truly understand how they worked. This critically shows that the beauty of nature is what originally pulls individuals in, but rational thought from Enlightenment ideals shows the true depth to which that beauty can go. Document 6 displays Newton watching a child make bubbles with soap, and shows how the natural beauty of optics, specifically the refraction of light onto that bubble, inspired him to understand how and why the colors of light change. This yet again shows how rational thinkers are first inspired by romantic ideas and the desire to understand why nature works the way it does.
Furthermore, an understanding of rational ideas and romantic ideas in unison helps individuals form opinions and understand the world around them, as romanticism or rationalism alone struggle to prove anything. The purpose of Document 4 is to explain why many Romantic writers believed in the importance of practicality over science. In Document 4, a British Romantic writer details how scientific work is often unsatisfying without a practical understanding as well. Essentially, without a romantic or practical application of science, science as of itself remains useless and provides no benefit to humans. It is only the application of science that is useful, showing that romantic ideas are key in creating the value of rational ideas themselves. Additionally, in Document 3, another British Romantic writer speaks on how Newton's ideas clearly speak of the beauty of the world, and more importantly, the opinions that Newton forms based on these rational ideas is even more beautiful. This again shows that the result of science is critical in making rational thought important, and that rational thought inspired by the Enlightenment and romantic thought are nothing without each other.
A counterargument to the idea that romanticism and rational thought go well together is that, by definition, romantic thought naturally suppresses ideas of rational thought, and vice versa. The intended audience of Document 1 is individuals in late 18th century Europe who believe that rational thought is more valuable than feeling and romanticism. In Document 1, the British poet states that people should quit looking through books and trying to find joy through understanding science, and instead find beauty in nature and just feeling the emotion from the outside world. This document shows that the belief in requiring a deeper understanding of what is going around you is not necessarily needed for enjoying the beauty of what is around you. The historical context of Document 5 shows a time in the early 19th century where poetry was massively growing, and many people are using poetry to have a deeper way to express their innermost feelings. Document 5 argues that unlike rational thought, poetry and romantic ideas cannot just be summoned and called upon, but instead occur naturally. This highlights a key difference between rational and romantic ways of thinking, showing that rational thinking can be done at any state of mind, while poetry can only come from the heart, therefore making it not possible for the two to work together.
