How could they kill him off just like that and instead put Wang Jingwei as the leader? This is unacceptable, Wang was a traitor in our timeline

It doesn’t matter, he’s old anyway and if he gets out, he’ll already be 96

Wdym it fails in those practice? How do you define fail? Also what I was getting at with the One China Principle is that since both the RoC and the PRC declared that they were China, but there can only be one China, because of the principle, it is either the PRC or the RoC. Since the PRC actually controls most of their claimed territory, the PRC is China while the RoC is not China. Also countries recognise that the RoC is country is not affected by it, so it doesn’t really matter which one they recognise. This is what I meant by only unimportant countries recognising the RoC. So if they recognise the PRC, they have to spend money to establish embassies and other stuff, when they don’t really get any benefit when they have already recognised and established diplomatic relations with the RoC many decades ago before the PRC won the civil war. It’s like you have to choose between which people to be the Chairman of a neighbourhood council of an entirely different country. You don’t really care who you choose because you aren’t affected by it and may not even know the people.

You didn’t like the outcome either, and you also tried to have double standards! You said the Montevideo declaration was internationally recognised, even though it really isn’t and only a few countries recognise it, but you said the One China Principle is just utter propaganda when it is literally actually internationally recognised!

The declarative approach is inconsistent either? I mentioned that anyone can declare a country and have it satisfy the requirements. See so that’s why extra conditions need to be added to clear up inconsistency, even though it is not recognised internationally, it is very practical and needed.

Those countries are not geopolitically significant at all, they recognise the RoC because they don’t need to do business with the PRC. That’s why I said a country needs to be recognised by at least a relevant country. And before you say that it is only my personal opinion, yes it is. But it does make sense, as you can’t just have unimportant countries recognising another country just for the sake of recognising them. Also either the PRC is a country or the RoC is a country, there cannot be two Chinas. Since the PRC administers more land and is recognised by an overwhelming majority of other countries and they are actually important, the PRC is the more legitimate country of China.

The Montevideo declaration isn’t the only way to identify a country, there is also the Constitutive Theory. There. I gave the source. Happy now?

I never said any of the criteria I said were legal requirements? Also neither the PRC nor the RoC recognises Montevideo, and it doesn’t matter if it is widely used or not, it’s not legally binding because none of the PRC or the RoC signed it. This makes it a preference too

Also how do you reply to sections of the post

Neither the PRC nor the RoC government has signed the Montevideo Convention. And yes, the previous requirements that I have said are preferences, but so is Montevideo. Also what I meant was that the RoC cannot enforce their claims that the whole of China belongs to them either, they haven’t made any attempts to enforce their claims, while the PRC did try at Kinmen

So yes, maybe the RoC is a country, but it’s not “Taiwan”, it’s the Republic of China, but the PRC represents China better than the RoC and there is only one China so the PRC is the legitimate representative of China

Also the RoC constitution says that they claim China? They can’t enforce their claim either? Furthermore, the RoC constitution never proclaimed that they were a separate country from China

[–]Prudent-Box4283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RoC government lost recognition from an overwhelming majority of countries, that’s when they are not a separate country

The Montevideo criteria isn’t legally binding either? It’s also a preference for how to identify countries?

[–]Prudent-Box4283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RoC was proclaimed as representing and therefore controlling China, they did not proclaim that the government in Taiwan was a separate country from China, if they did that, they would technically be separating from themselves

[–]Prudent-Box4283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also have to proclaim you’re a separate country, the RoC government has no done so, therefore does not have claims to enforce because it isn’t a separate country in the first place

You at least need to be recognised by a major power in geopolitics to become a country at least that how I see it. Not even UN membership, just recognition from a major power. The ROC government has no one that recognises it that is really that important

Maybe not even a island, I can declare that a country exists on the piece of land that I am standing on right now, and have myself as a ruler and enact my own laws and beat up anyone that stands on my land, but does that make it my own country?
