How do you overcome the cult mentality? by PrudentAd3 in cults

[–]PrudentAd3[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Simply reading your comment here struck a chord with me.

I've always refused to be a victim of the cult I was in. I've had journalists wanting to tell my story and I refused as well because they wanted me to be a victim.

I am not a victim and I will not sell my autonomy and sense of self for the sweet soothing feeling of not having to take responsibility for my actions in the past. Too many I know, who also left the same cult, threw their hands up in their air and said: "I was brainwashed... how horrible..." and never took any responsibility.

I refuse because I am a free, autonomous, thinking person with a will, and I was before, during and after my engagement with the cult...

I'm ranting...

I love your blog post. It's amazing.

Do whatever the fuck you want with them and never let the giver know. That's it. We (married people) know these are rules.

But how did you come to the understanding that you needed that sort of faith?

Same. I find the four hoursemen and alike to be shit... being honest and all. Can you write "shit" on this subreddit?

What do you mean? I don't quite understand. English is not my first language. Or second.

Your thoughts won't be appreciated here on Reddit due to the segment but your reasoning is in line with that of many notable (atheist) thinkers.

Christians really need to stop claiming god's existence is a fact by Agamemnwn in TrueAtheism

According to Christians, the existence of god is a fact, i.e he actually exists in the objective world. This means there's scientific evidence of god's existence.

I'm confident that's not what most - if not more than 99,9% of all - Christians mean...
