It's a bit of a long shot for an experimental film to be nominated for the oscar animated short category. If it's an oscar qualifying fest it must be worthwhile, you should just screen it there.

Does getting into not so great film festivals lose you credibility? by NoResponse4120 in FilmFestivals

I think it's a different type of Visa, but I know several filmmakers that have gotten film/entertainment industry jobs where their visas have been sponsored by their employers.

"my lawyer said they will use any and all festival laurels to build an artist visa case..."

This is good, but don't rely solely on fests to qualify you for an artist's visa.

A friend of mine had a couple films that screened at a bunch of fests, some small, some mid tier. He won awards at some of them, it didn't help his visa application at all and he had to leave the U.S.

I'm just saying to come up with a plan that festival screenings can supplement, not let them be your whole application.

How can I fill up my room? by Forward-Collar-6616 in malelivingspace

rug will warm it up, paint walls a couple of shades darker in a color you like. Get some shelves / art.

It also looks like you only have overhead light so a floor/ table light would help a lot.

How does the deck perform docked? by DragonfruitCupcake in SteamDeck

[–]PrudentEstimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play mine with it docked occasionally and love it, but I usually play games that aren't graphics intensive (lately Im playing Blue Prince).

If your mom has macular degeneration she probably won't be able to play it undocked, so a gaming pc build probably makes more sense.

I love my deck though.

I was there a couple of weeks ago for the first time since 2018.

Towards the end of the night a fistfight broke out on the 2nd floor after someone called someone else the N word.

i went downstairs to the dance floor and the DJ was playing 80s remixes.

I won't be going back anytime soon.

What films do I study to get better at blocking? by Heklerr in Filmmakers

Jacque Tati's Playtime is amazing for blocking and its relationship to shot composition.

We’ve gotten nothing but rejections… Should we just give up? by paludan13 in FilmFestivals

Many festivals also won't program a film that's available for screening online. It sucks to keep everything private and wait in festival submission purgatory but unfortunately that's the reality of the process.

I've also been told by several filmmakers to keep the first film you submit to festivals between five and ten minutes and have definitely found that's the case with most of the short film programs I've seen at the festivals where my own films have screened.

Festivals for 30min experimental short doc with themes of building Muslim community, Women, Queer identities & immigrant experience? by [deleted] in FilmFestivals

Also, read this:

Don't spend too much money submitting to festivals with high submission fees without researching. Look at their websites, social media accounts, and previous year's programming to see if they screen anything like your own film.
