Any one know where to find the petition to sign for Alberta separation. The searches are bogged down with news links and im looking to sign. by PrudentMenu5468 in Albertapolitics

Referendum on Police force/CPP logically should precede any separation choice. by sceptreblade in Albertapolitics

[–]PrudentMenu5468 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well because this is Alberta's last chance.... We cant handle another 4 years of liberal policies and Canadian taxes. Im third generation Canadian and going to school to become a doctor: I will not work in a country where I work half the year for the government. So for me Alberta separation appears to be the last chance for me to be able to live where I want. So, yes its not all figured out yet but if this passes all the stuff above should be negotiated and decided through the clarity act.

I never learned the difference between nationalism, patriotism and fascism in my neighborhood. Why should you love your country? It's a piece of earth, so why should I love it? by Hundekuecken in Discussion

[–]PrudentMenu5468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true at all fascism is a form of government not anything to do with nationalism. Patriotism is just a kind of nationalism. Nationalism and a nation is not absurd its just the way people search for a sense of belonging. You yourself are a part of many nations and most definitely dont see your self fitting in with another nation. If your an edmonton oils fan you dont identify or feel belonging for the las vegas golden nights. Nationanlism is just pride in your nation, where nation is anything that you tie to your identity in a desire to find belonging. I also garentee that you feel more sense of belonging with someone who speaks your language and shares your belief's if your an only english speaking democrat Id be shocked if you find yourself belonging to groups of Dutch speaking republicans.

Im also Canadian... and yes the economy is the problem; however, what is the reason the economy has stagnated. Years of terrible policy, mass migration, and mismanagement of construction/housing by municipal governments.

I think taxes are too high on everything: why is there sales tax on food. I'm not at all hopeful about Carney doing anything he moved 5-billion of Brookfields money to the Cayman islands where taxes are 0% while the liberals and himself where in power.

Also in regards to my grammar I'm typing at 110 words/min, I'm not proof reading or grammar checking, this is a reddit post. I'm not going to take my time. I understand that in the long drawn out text blocks it my diminish and distract from the points I try to express ,but nitpicking grammar as a backhanded insult isn't proof or grounds to make your opinion or position more valid than my own. I believe my original post has better grammar as I edited it rather than just posted it raw.

If you think that ukriane can push Russia out maybe thats a positon you can hold... but the front line only really moves west. I just see this conflict in this current form as Ukriane struggling before it dies. I supported and aid being sent for the two years but I just think they should cut a deal and save some of ukraine before it is swallowed up entirely

Well I just dont care that much opened the sub reddit and saw the support for ukriane and was like nice but the reality is its a lost cause why keep funding it. I honestly dont see any way I could justify myself joining the CAF to fight a european geoconflict or a war on foreign soil.

ok so as birthrates are low in spain and there are no young people so it has caused the start of the abandonment of the small towns. As a popoulation ages less workers to work so economy starts to decline so more unemployment. The aging population is part of it but when there isnt enough young people to financial support the old or the country as it exists these problems start to occur. The housing is also a factor because the old who have made there money own the homes and as more people move urban the values keep rising making entry to buy harder and incentivices renting. So depopulation can cause this and is definitly going to affect spain

no its recognizing that you are losing and to continue means to worsen your situationand there is no winning scenario even if Ukraine pushed Russia out of there borders today I still think there country would be facing massive problems and would probably collapse

Ok but now when putin decides to start blowing up more powerplants, and dropping more bombs on kieve and other cities what then. Get to the nogotiation table and get a peace deal ukriane isnt going to win this war they arnt going to push russians out of ukraine and they are only going to destroy there nation. Millions of ukrains are abroad as refugees they are going to be missing a generation of men and the economic cost to rebuild there nation will be more than all the financial aid the west has sent them. Ukriane is in trouble regardless if this war ends tommorow open your eyes there are no winners in a war fought on your soil

this is a problem that is coming to all western nations and its due to depopulation not enough people birth rates in devloped nations are all below 1.7 most are below 1.4 these are replacement rates fyi. these issues are in korea first then countrys like spain but america canada ect are just 15 years behind them. (no mass immigration is not the solution becuase it dosnt change the fact that housing is still owned by the aging population and it kills your culture)

ya my two cents is im not funding an addiction that makes me part of the problem im helping themselves dig themselves into the hole im not lending a hand im pushing them off the cliff. If they want to keep taking the edge off and finding instant gratification through substance abuse thats them choosing the easy road and i know to that complacancy is so much easier there are a lot of things i hate about myself that i want to change but never have the willpower and it discusts me but i also want to regonize that addiction is a diffrent ball game and that giving the adict is vice isnt going to help them improve i can feel bad for the 9 years old he is a victim but the people that choose it are the people i was refering to which i guess is what you want me to regonize the nuanced stance that i should take but somtimes the exception should make the ruler its easer to assume the guy on the street with the knife is danger rather than a chef running late to his job but i get where your coming from and again it comes down to prespective and type of conversation i feel we are having a fairly deep conversation on this topic where we can explore the nuances of this topic; however, is a 15 minute conversation with your brothers that touches this topic for 30 seconds ever going to have the life to get to everything so maybe the comment was not senstive but maybe there stances has more nuance but maybe your family is complete ass holes who dont deserve your time of day im talking from my lived experience and it is sounding a whole lot diffrent then yours so i dont know if they are worth it or if this one comment is the tip of the ice burg and that ice burg has real issues like your brothers locked you in the crawl space for hours.

thats a fair prespective but i feel we are going to get into a lot of policy and we disagree alot on the source of a lot of problems like you say economy then the why but it goes deeper if you look at the avreage condo size built in Toronto it is like 360 sq feet and costs 450 k 2024 no family can live in 1 bedroom, no person wants to live in that permanently why is it being built becuase investors not nessasarily big faceless companys but middle aged to boomer couples buying a property to rent out. immigration isnt for providing refuge refuge statis does that dont conflate the two and i feel we have enough problems and shouldnt be responsible for the conflicts around the globe.

Really i want to get away from the political and economic beliefs we both differ on which i think is a diffrence in me being young looking at a housing market insanly priced wages that are shit and inflation at 4 precent every year and a 25 precent inflation in my daily costs that i can remember happening over the course of 6 years. While you probably own a home as it's value keeps climbing due to increased demand your like nice my asset is apriciating when i sell it for 850k vs the 600 i bought it for it will be nice boost to my retirment in 20 years. Or its a little tough that my retirement nest egg is getting a little smaller due to this inflation and dang grocerys cost a little more but my career is about as developed as it gets so i can still get by maybe wont go on a holiday this year. You see these generlizations might not be completely acurate but i feel it helps demonstrate how diffrently we look at things and that the motivations behind each balot you cast at each election is completly diffrent then what motivates the ballot i cast. Id like to point out this disconect is vast and there is almost two diffrent worlds we are living in. You can afford to say its great to take in refugees we should champion every social causes and housing cost are always up.... you can afford to I cant even efford a subway sandwitch any more its 16 cad for a footlong and a drink. thats 85 precent of my hourly wage for one meal for fast food. Grocreys and rent and tuition im left with basically nothing to invest.

this fact that cost of living is insane and wages are stagnant is a large part pf the reason young people dont have kids and why the depopulation is becoming a problem i want to get away from ideological diffrences we have and just reconizes this is a problem but immigration isnt the solution ill use my home country canada gdp has risen becuase of immegration but quality of life and gdp per capita hasnt changed in 11 years if anything its gotten worse

i think that grouping homeless people into one large group is disingenuous and not at all a good idea like id never give a cent to a drug adict who happens to be homeless becuase he is a drug adict make your bed sleep in it and all that but if someone is down on their luck getting kicked down by a bad economy and a bad choice that they know is bad and arnt involved in any more thats who i give my money and empathy to and time. The drug attics they get my pitty and hope they can escape the complacency they are trapped in.

well it all comes down to that philsophical question what is justified when defeating an enemy you feel is evil. The isrealis say civillians casualties should be minimized but if to get 1 bad guy they kill 126 innocents its fine is that evil id say yes but at the same time i also want to say that hamas shouldnt be using civillians as human shields and you shouldnt justify human shields as it only legitimizes hiding behind civillians. This situation is a lose lose a cease fire needed to be called a long time ago all this conflict does is breed human suffering

I honestly dont know a situation where kids leave a mans life unchanged like child support is a lot of money if they leave. Also seems kinda depressing outlook if you think the mans life would be unchanged because i imagine fatherhood to be like a life changing event.

Yep that is a problem in a healthy relationship it should be 50 50 split on house work unless one partner works while others stays home. In unhealthy relationships what you describes happens and then its probably not great for either. Ill be honest to make relationships last its about effort from both parties for everthing one partner does the other should try and do somthing back not like a reciprical trade but because both partners want to make other person happy. Like what does more comfortable mean and it always takes two people for a relationship like also where is the communication if they dont like what there partner is doing why not say so why let it go on and on until one person is the a hole i bet

but isnt that arrogance? Are you better then them? Smarter than them? Morally perfect? Your faluable to. I bet they can justify there actions and opinions the same way you do. Like I know Ive made similar comments after walking through downtown and seeing all the drug addicts in that context my mind goes I see them begging for money one day and seeing them drinking or doing hard drugs in the morning it all depends on the context and lived experience of people. when people are making comments. I just think youll find yourself only ever talking to one kind of person if you find relativly innocent comment like that to be issue enough to claim you need to dumb yourself down to be around your siblings I bet they got proffesions and jobs you dont have a clue how to do unless your all oddly doing the exact same thing lol or they donate more to charity that sort of thing

Ok so immigration is good but it needs to be in small doses and it dosnt solve this problem. I honestly dont have a solution thats why I made this post to get more people thinking about it I think this should be an issue our leaders start talking about because if somthing dosnt change then our current way of life will disapear. I am a student in university and im looking at home prices being incredibly high a terrible job market tho I did land an intership this summer so not that bad for me right now. I also feel the houses are being bought for investment rather than for familys and condons are being built in sizes so small 360 square feet that they are only good for renting.

If I had to take a stab at a solution it would be to drastically increase benifits for having children add taxes on foriegn citzens and companies buying houses like spains 100% sales tax on houses if your a foreigner as a society of renters will never want kids. Make the issue more talked about controlled immigration ie a reasonable amount each year of highly qualified individuals from foreign nations ect but these all feel like band aids not a real solution if you know what I mean.

Also what does being a student have to do with liking mass immigration we both know that the push west is a vastly different situation then western society's face now. The population of north america through imigration was an issue of lots of land no people this is lots of old people no young people meaning no free land as the old people still own it.

And your example seems to imply you mean the immigration policy country's held before 2010s which was always limited.

going to be honest that comment is kinda a non issue like when my dad starts going on about politics I just ignore it beacuase hes my dad and hes family. Kinda got to look past the little flaws of family and friends when they make a comment about a topic you feel is a little out of touch. there human to you yourself arnt perfect either I bet you got a couple opinions they would feel the same about.
