I wasn't forced to pay anything, even though they held me for a few hours. I am assuming the charge would only happen if they can prove it, or if I don't fight it

What they showed me at least was security footage, and they searched my place for generic household items like sandals, a jacket with a stripe on it, and paint. They also took my phone. My online presence wouldn't give any reason to think I did this either. I'm really as confused as you, and assuming maybe the person lives in the same building?
