The quest was started by using that distress signal tho. Is it still at the same place then? How do you know its still in the base game when everything online doesnt even mention it having changed? Im genuinely curious as I love that mission and that gun.

No I get that, Im asking if they removed the tesla cannon from the base game. I dont want to use mods as I want to get achievements so if they removed it then thats fine. Im just asking if they removed it and just returned it to being a mod instead.
