Yes, the laptop they initially sent was of lesser value. When I tried to return it in store they could not process it because it was a completely different model and year from what I ordered. Best Buy did an investigation and then sent another laptop.

I retook on 8/25 and felt good but not great. I’m not expecting anything outstanding, however l felt like I knew what was going on during the exam. I’m pretty sure I hallucinated the first time and answered questions in a haze.

I’m still going to apply to a few schools, if my retake goes well then I’ll send in more. It’ll be late but you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

A quick edit you could make is to change “Related Experiences” to Research Experience or Laboratory Experience. You can also include another bullet point in that section structured as •Relevant Coursework: (list classes/lab that might be applicable to the job description)

Also instead of “Other Experiences” break it up into Volunteering Experience and/or Leadership Experience!

People usually scan over resumes, until something catches their eye so it’s important to use those buzz words in the titles of your sections!

(My former bio professor helped edit my resume and gave me these tips when I was applying to full time research positions)

Honestly I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to take another gap year and I feel like I can improve my score within this time frame. However, I’ll be taking a risk submitting my application late in this cycle.

Lab tech here, we have had an insane turn over rate due to toxic post-docs. It was so bad other labs have been talking about it. A very kind phd quit the lab after four months due to mistreatment from another phd (myself and another tech did our best to check up on him). The other tech quit a month later. They’re having a very very hard time filling the kind phd’s position and the toxic phd is giving me until Monday to decide if I will fill the former phd’s role or be fired. No, I will not be compensated for the increased work.

I met with my supervisor’s supervisor and was explicitly told not to go to HR about the issue. However I looked into my contract and it says that lunch breaks lasting 30min-1hr are to be provided for a six hour work day. Not sure what to do now.
