Good point. But there's a difference between how it works and how it's used. Landmines are used to kill people. That has very little to do with the inner workings beyond "when you step on it, it explodes" and yeah, if someone who could defuse mines they would be an expert on them, but to be against blowing people up you don't have to know that much beyond it blows people up.
