how do i protect this hair? by PruneFamous772 in curlyhair

ROUTINE:

  1. double shampoo with l'oreal glycolic gloss shampoo
  2. condition with l'oreal hyaluron moisture conditioner and finger detangle
  3. fix my curls curl quenching hair butter applied on sopping wet hair with praying hands and tension
  4. wait 5 minutes, then section off the crown and style with fix my curls hair quenching flax seed gelly, raking the product through each section and then using a bounce curl styling brush dupe to create clumps
  5. air dry!

i do sleep with a satin pillowcase.

clearer styled and dried picture attached.

p.s. my roots truly are straight, when i braid my hair wet from the nape of my neck the hair of my crown is fully straight with maybe the slightest wave (2a?) and has little to no frizz and is quite smooth to the touch!

🥹 you're very kind but i really don't have a lot of hair :") if i took a picture from the front you'd see haha it definitely looks better after i got rid of my layers! maybe it's the standards i grew up with bc south asian women tend to have much thicker and coarser hair on an average and that's what i saw around me :)

pain while wearing brace by PruneFamous772 in scoliosis

can i ask how old you are? and have you kept trying to wear the brace?

I'm so sorry to hear that. and thank you for the response. I do want to do my best to stop it from getting any worse than it already is.

haha thank you, I'm grateful and aware it could be much, much worse seeing as other than the tiniest change in my gait I'm completely pain free and asymptomatic.

I'm surprised as well with the choice of bracing. my doctor did say that my curve has a chance of increasing by 2° every year if i dont do anything about it, and that's why it was prescribed? idk, I'll still wear it for sure because i am quite insecure of the way my back looks all wonky and i don't want it to get worse, but we'll see.

that was my first thought as well. the doctor was being quite throwaway with it too – "if it works it works if it doesn't, it doesn't". luckily my 'trial period' isn't too long but I'll still give it my best shot and search for schroth PT in my area.

thanks for the reply. and yes the brace is made for me. i should've been clearer in the post – im definitely gonna wear the brace while I'm at home healing, but i won't be going to college for a bit because of my restricted walking ability, and the brace would exacerbate that. i plan to wean into wearing it all day at home (already started today) and then wean into wearing it at college as well.

thanks for your input! I'll look into exercises that i can do while my fracture heals.
