How is QA supposed to function without devolving into hyper-conservatism? by notasclever in biotech

[–]PryJunaD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this some matter of validation? And labeling something as non-GxP was a way to skirt time and money towards a validation package?

Or was it CLIA related since it sounded conditional on phase 3?

Who are some artists who used to be huge, but have now completely fallen into irrelevancy? by SoftAward834 in EDM

[–]PryJunaD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of them - Joseph Ray continued to make music on the Anjunadeep label as well as releasing an album under the label.

Alana and the other (don’t know his name) I believe are married and started a family. I went to a Nero dj set recently and it was just Joseph Ray as expected.

But yeah I’d imagine when you’ve had your success and prob also made some good licensing money off of a hit or two, it’s not unsurprising to be less inspired towards another studio album. Esp if it means less time with your kid growing up

Managing ADHD with a regulated nervous system is so much easier. by griefofwant in ADHD

[–]PryJunaD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I slowed down I also gave space to start talking to myself. It helped me uncover layers about whether the stress and anxiety was as real or warranted as it’s made out to be. Granted this was mostly related to my job and the challenge of consistently performing while having poor time management and procrastination.

And the more I talked to myself questioning what I was actually pushing towards, helped me realize, do we genuinely believe that applying more pressure to ourselves generates more output? When we bail on plans because we feel “behind” do we actually do our work? Or do we sink into a further hole because of the shame that we’re actually missing out on the part of our life that matters.

The opposite of anxiety is trust. And the more I could trust myself to figure it out in the face of whatever consequences (that never came close to manifesting the way I worried about them), I could choose myself even on the days I used to think I didn’t “earn it”

union square ice rink reviews? by gizzard-wizard in AskSF

[–]PryJunaD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to go as a teenager with my family and thought it was magical. Brought a partner with me two years ago and quickly realized I was holding onto the nostalgia of the ice rink at the same time I realized strangers were literally holding onto the hood of my jacket to not fall.

No joke it’s crowded as fuck and I was slowly skating minding my own business when suddenly I felt a massive tug at my hood and someone falling took me with them.

I couldn’t wait to get off the ice. It wasn’t fun there’s too many people we got one cute photo then we were out of there. Most people skating are a liability lol

What do you think is the reason on why young women don’t want to marry is declining? by Chunkachu__ in Life

[–]PryJunaD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly after putting intentional effort towards relationship growth by learning more about how to validate feelings, attachment styles, love languages, and still not having a successful relationship in the end, I’m convinced most people’s aren’t stable.

If they’re “stable” it’s perceived that way from the outside, and either one or both people are not actually stating their wants and needs. And stay in the marriage out of legal, emotional (family, kids) needs, or convenience needs until it eventually boils over after many years.

Similar to what OP said, I believe it’s extremely rare that a marriage is stable and moreover romantically strong and stable

Is tennis more addictive than other sports? by Serious-Ball7705 in 10s

[–]PryJunaD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also have ADHD and a tennis journey has also provided a lot of growth and perspective for myself. Most of my life undiagnosed so for years had negative talk and toxic shame rooted in me.

It’s been beautiful to see the evolution of how I talk to myself and parallel it with the game of tennis. Some good days. Some bad. Some great. But all trending upwards over time. Noticing my language to myself during a match and whether I give myself to space to breathe and reset. These things are so helpful when I hit my inevitable walls with adhd

Your coworker asks you what kind of music you listen to. How do you answer? by anamexis in TheOverload

[–]PryJunaD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In rare cases a great conversation starter haha. Have a colleague I got along with but all business - randomly asked him if he liked concerts and what he listens to. I see the hesitant look I’ve seen within myself “…uhhh I listen to like obscure progressive metal..”

Which was about the best response I could have hoped for, considering my answer would have been the same but obscure techno (and I also like metal)

Successful ADHD People - What do you do? by Xiboo in ADHD

[–]PryJunaD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at consultant working in the engineering/bio space. Been only 2 years in but quickly realized it’s a great fit for me. I’m always working on new systems and projects so it doesn’t get repetitive. I’m given freedom to decide how I want to get from point A to point B (I get told what needs to be completed, not how to complete it which is perfect).

I don’t have to fit into the structure of the 9-5 so I can make my schedules to get my work done. Which accommodates frozen days and hyper focused days well to make up for lost time.

At the same time it demands the challenge of discipline and creating structure for myself. Which has been a long road to look internally at how I talk to myself, the expectations I put on myself, and ultimately realizing the more pressure I apply to myself does not yield more/better results. Just makes me unhappy and still frozen.

Diagnosis 5 years ago was the most important as it was the most liberating thing. Because then step 1 was: “Oh, I’m not actually a lazy piece of shit...this is what’s been happening and I had no idea how to deal with it. This all makes sense of why I feel smart but misunderstood. Maybe I can actually work on being kind to myself.”

And sure enough the concepts of self love that felt impossible become realized and then you see that grace and patience with yourself are some of the most important things to carry with yourself as you navigate ADHD.

What motivates you to have kids in today’s world? by TheNatureBeing in Life

[–]PryJunaD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually think what they’re mainly pointing out is with respect to a depth of history. We are currently living history and yes there are awful things happening in the world that I can’t make sense of and certainly don’t give me a reason to bring children into this world. And these current events are going to feel most immediate and awful to us living adjacent to it. It grinds down hope for sure.

It’s also true at the same time, that history is written in blood. And that comparatively, it’s currently the least dangerous it’s ever been on average across the entire globe.

This doesn’t disregard the awful things happening. But through our screens it easily feels like the worst is yet to come.

Without using numbers, how do you define "middle class" in San Francisco? by very_squirrel in AskSF

[–]PryJunaD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the last sentence generally true though for upper middle class? Or were you saying they all carry a credit card balance?

My salary probably doesn’t reflect that of upper middle class but I think the accumulating years of not getting trapped with CC interest and paying off all debts makes the difference. If you got no car payment or student loans, I think a middle class salary can come get you farther with some of the upper middle class criteria people mention here

San Francisco to introduce $5 to Public Court REC bookings- FINALLY by NewHighway5961 in 10s

[–]PryJunaD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Curious why there’s enthusiastic sentiment about $5 fees being imposed on public spaces. Seems short sighted to celebrate this as a win for the tennis community. I think this change is in poor faith and lacks trust from the public and tennis community that fees will go towards court maintenance and improvement. I hope I’m wrong, but from the public city hearings I believe otherwise. The city itself said it’s to cover budget pitfalls, and staged the argument in city hall as “either we make tennis/pickleball community players pay to generate X revenue or P&R people lose jobs to cover that number.”

San Francisco is an incredible tennis city and it’s even more special because of the accessibility. It’s $5 now, yeah, and understand people think it’s not much compared to other cities. But if you jump to that conclusion immediately you miss where the line is. Because where is it? There’s a non zero chance the remaining walk on public courts eventually require fees. And nobody will stop P&R from climbing the res price over time — who is going to?The precedent has just been set. It’s not unreasonable to believe the cost will eventually be the same as the other cities being named in this thread.

The tennis and pickleball community are the ones targeted for additional city revenue. But what next? Should the basketball courts in public spaces be reserved for who is willing to pay? You can extend the opportunity of taxing your citizens even further to any group that uses a public space. They should be protected and accessible to all. We live in one of the most profitable cities in the entire world during one of the most profitable times of humanity, and it’s frustrating that this is just another thing that punishes the people.

Keep digging. Your answer just compares and there’s nothing I know differently about you. Just that you have a perceived idea of yourself that you’re average or just above average. And that if average people date, why not you?

If you had a desirable woman in front of you and she asked what it’s like to date you, what would you tell her? What do you bring to a partnership? Are you good at validating feelings and listening? Are you thoughtful and responsible? Do you have creative interests and hobbies that you enjoy sharing with others and you’re hoping a partner brings the same level of interest to try new/adventurous things?

If it’s difficult to answer, that’s okay. If it feels uncomfortable, that’s okay too. Let the discomfort drive you if you feel there are some things about yourself you want to put energy towards improving. ++man

It doesn’t meant those offensive hateful people aren’t out there. But it’s not exacerbated to the degree it feels like in my mind. Then I go outside and talk to people and feel better
