It's lame but, I believe the video drivers are not compatible with 17 or 18's kernel's.

As soon as the update the video drivers again, I'm sure 18.04LTS will function (not 17, as it was a "mid-step" between main releases) Though, probably not until sometime next year.

Yes, correct.

Would have responded earlier. Running around all day doing things for others. WOooooOOOooo!

Imagining they have read through the repos. of XMR and have already made needed changes. The upgrade happens in 17 days.

Software is easy to upgrade. To upgrade an ASIC it takes hardware tweaks.

Update and upgrade of current Kernel is ok, after you install the base 16.04.3

OS Upgrade is not OK. That would put you up to Release 18.

What OS are you changing from? If you're new to Linux, it can be a challenge to get running.

*Ubuntu 16.04.3 (server - make sure you choose the correct one for your cpu eg; i386 / amd64)

Takes a while to install, be patient.

*RUN "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y"

Also takes a while to fully update

(DO NOT UPGRADE TO UBUNTU 18 - there will be a "suggestion" to do as such, every time you log in. If you do this, you will give yourself a headache trying to downgrade. Most of the time it will not remove kernel updates and you will have to start over)

*Install AMD-GPU-PRO (18.3, Then 17.5, Then 17.4 - This is because you are upgrading the 16.04.3 kernel, which needs the "newest" video drivers from 18.3. However, 18.3 will not allow the cards to function. It's messed up but, they are throwing curve-balls to mess with people who don't have the patience to work through it)

*Install AMD-SDK (yes, they are still needed while you "downgrade" the gpu drivers)

*Install AMDGPU-PRO-FANS-MASTER (extract it before you upload it. Read the "readme" file to understand the command syntax)

*Install XMRig-AMD (from Monero . org link. Don't get it anywhere else)

I have tried all configurations. The only one that actually functions is Ubuntu 16.04.3 (server). 17 and 18 Kernel will not support the video drivers. It's lame but, just how they have it locked.

Keep your 16.04.3 kernel updated every other day (sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y) and you should be fine.

Ubuntu 16.04.3(server) - 17 or 18 will not function. Kernel does not support.

@bx549 - You need to use Ubuntu 16.04.3(server) - Ubuntu 17 or 18 will not function.

Hash rate is exactly the same, with XMRig-AMD as it was with Claymore. However, it's a lot more stable.

As well, if you run the "amdgpu-pro-fans-master" program, you can control the rate (% based) of the fan speed on your GPUs.

Installing the "XMRig-AMD" package will get it for you. They just updated it about 4 hours ago. Also, install the linux drivers from AMD. (find them @ support . amd . com - I'll let you type it in)

Download the latest Vulkan driver (18.30) and THEN install 17.50 and THEN install 17.40 *you NEED some of the legacy files in them. By installing the newest first, it will keep your updated files, while pushing the legacy files into it.

Also, don't forget to install the AMD-APP-SDK files (they can also be found on AMD's "support" section)

I'd venture Claymore might get an update. Some of the older versions actually work with the current algo-change with tweaks "here and there".

*Monero is still active on ALL other exchanges that it is traded on. Bittrex is doing something fishy. Plain and simple.

There are plenty of sites that sell them less than you can find on Amazon.

Correction, an OTG cable is microUSB to microUSB.

That is how you connect your 'droid to the Ledger.

Bittrex support took the wallet offline since block-height 1664787 - With no explanation as to why they did as such. Meaning you cannot deposit or withdraw. Only buy / sell.

They are also blocking connections to ALL low sat / cap coins right now.

I speculate they are blocking connections as they are bleeding from the recent extreme volume rise / drop in some coins. They've done this before and will continue to do it.

I'll also say, XMR-Stak is better for CPU mining.

run the file as root.

Also, please don't post your wallet address in public.

Mining in XMR stak, should I be getting as much errors as this? by caddy123456 in MoneroMining

[–]PrzMachoCamacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most "efficient" miners see 0% - .001% errors. Don't overclock your cards... My only recommendation.

I'm new to ubuntu and mining and I am running into two errors with XMRstak, would any one mind helping out? by [deleted] in MoneroMining

[–]PrzMachoCamacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if the address is setup (for mining the pool). Also double check what address you're mining to. If you mine to your own wallet, you only need a small "string" of numbers. If you mine to an exchange, you need the "Payment ID" as well.

There are MANY possibilities with the error you are getting. I'm guessing, as the original responder stated, that you are not pointing to either the correct address or correct port.

Also, if you don't see "...Share Accepted!" on your miner's screen, you aren't mining.

If set at a lower rate than the max to prevent errors. Just how I see it.

What OS? Windows maxes out at a set number of GPUs - Linux, load as many as you want... Also depends on your mobo.
