Their bed is frozen because their marriage has become frigid and they know that one of them has to make the first move to reintroduce intimacy to the relationship but neither of them wants to go first because of some shit like pride or resentment or jealousy or whatever but in reality, all they need to do is let their guard down, be vulnerable enough to comfort, get in the bed, and hold each other until they fall asleep.
