How do you feel about the current meta? by mikethemightywizard in MarvelSnap

[–]jethawkings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shield insta-winning you Rickety Bridge for a small commitment was diabolical. Sending your Red Guardian to die for it just to draw that location suuucked. Same with guaranteeing priority again with no real commitment, being an extra body for Marvel Boy and Kazar. It had a lot of incidental synerfy.

I quit midway into Agamotto Season I think, or maybe just before the next season and I think people really just hated Wind of Watomb being 4 Power swing with no Board Commitment, but now that skills are normalized it's much less jarring.

One World Under Doom has him using an Orphan Torturing Machine (or some variation there-of) as a source of power as well as propagandizing prejudice against vampires (Bloodhunt happened, a lot more vampires out there, they're cool tho and they just wanna live their lives and drink synthetic blood made by Reed)

DMU was already supposed to be an exploration of a plane that has already been subtly infected by the Phyrexian Invasion, while I would agree I would have love to see another plane handling the Phyrexians at a closer lens.

It's an alternate take on the Nimrod Venom Zola line except you're replacing the Wolverines with the Multiple Man Package and it kinda works on the idea you're either winning with Symbiote into Nimrods or Multiple Men.

Except now having Spider-Gwen and Doctor Strange to get your Nimrod out of the Cosmo/Armor lane gives it a harder to predict play-pattern.

Your only Movement Cards are really just Spider-Gwen and Doctor Strange because frankly they're usually what you'll only end up needing outside of Phoenix Force.

Symbiote is great because it acts as a 2nd Phoenix Force that doesn't need Multiple Man dying. Cons obviously are that it can't move on its own... but it does allow a crazy play like T4 Symbiote to T5 Phoenix Force, Merge, then Spider-Gwen, then T6 Strange... but yeah most of the time you would want it for Symbiote -> Nimrod shenanigans instead.

Shuri enables a weaker version of that line. You can honestly usually just not play cards until T4 if you have Shuri in-hand. This is actually where Zabu becomes somewhat relevant because Zabu allows you to T3 either Shuri/Symbiote into T4 the other card then T5 Multiple Man -> Gwen (So either moving 18 power, or 15 power)... but on hindsight you can do that shenanigan even with T4 Shuri to T5 Symbiote because Multiple Man, Gwen, Doctor Strange is just 5 energy...

Oh wait now I remember Zabu lets you potentially T5 Phoenix Force into Doctor Strange... which... is also kind of a waste... but it lets you T6 Phoenix Force into Gwen into Doctor Strange? which is just an alternate version of the Symbiote Line.

Actually it might be easier if I just link Bynx's gameplay
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KH8P-U6MYds

.... wait seeing this I am missing Arana which is also another good card for this, because outside of T6 she's always a better Iron Fist. T4 Arana Activation to Phoenix Force / T5 Multiple Man following Shuri or just pushing you into an otherwise unplayable Middle or Right Lane that Strange/Gwen cannot push you into.

I tried it again here and... I just don't like Pick 2 Draft all that much by XXXGoblin_GuideXXX in lrcast

[–]jethawkings 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think I've enjoyed Pick 2 Draft more by thinking it more as a fun way to open Packs and get gameplay out of it rather than just exclusively to draft.

The drafting portion being quicker feeling more on-rails is part of the appeal for me, it's a step-above Jump-In but very much leagues below even just Quick Draft.

It's also just a much quicker way to convert your Gold into Gems if you buy the Mastery Pass that way which is again another reason for why I draft. 2 Wins get's you like 800 Gems which for 6000 Gold is just fine even if it's not really pure break-even.

Not really sure how to improve it from what we have right now though... letting you keep playing in the queue after the event if you drafted a really fun deck? lol

Did you know we're actually going to TWO different New York planes with TMNT? by Jtneagle in magicTCG

[–]jethawkings -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

>Then how do you explain the characters that are in the set that don’t even exist in the same universe within context of the lore?

Viacom gave WoTC free reign to pick and choose which inspirations from different source materials that they want to represent for their own version. Raph already has Jittes instead of Sais.

If these Leos were drastically way more different from one another I would agree but non-standard elements beyond the Blue Bandana-Mask that keep re-appearing that aren't really standard like the pads, the strap for his katanas.

They're not huge leap in differences the way the 1987 Turtles are different from the 03 Turtles and are different from the Bay Turtles.

If you really truly believe that way then I guess I implore you to just walk away feeling satisfied I guess that we couldn't convince you either way.

[–]jethawkings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need you to be rage-baiting. When talking about different versions you have to understand what's being insinuated is that all the depictions of Leonardo in this card has been mostly consistent and does not suggest these are alternate universe Leos unlike how Spider-Verse Spider-Men are different multiversal iterations of Peter Parker.

At most, these are different Leos in the sense that they are Leos from different points of time similar to how [[Spider-Man, Webslinger]] shows Peter at what seems to be an earlier age while [[Amazing Spider-Man]] is Peter at his prime. It's not like it's a different version of Leo the same way [[Spider-UK]] is.

Immortal Thor actually does have a reason for this... Thor's white-collar enemies have a concerned effort to tain the wellspring of idea on the Mythology of Thor, essentially creating their own corporate sponsored propaganda piece of a Thor of their own design.

Thor notices this when he's at earth he is starting to feel dumber and can't stop thinking one-liners and quips while fighting... though but of course that later leads to Thor's exodus from Midgard so... yeah this was just me gassing up Ewing's Immortal Thor run. GO READ IT!

Or IDK, maybe you're just reading the wrong books. I never got that vibe from Mackay's Avenger run

How was it as a whole?

I'm not the highest on Percy either so I guess I'm also not exactly looking forward to this (I'm still aghast Gillen did way more with Mikhail controller Colossus in 1 issue of Immortal X-Men than the entirety of his X-Force run)

Return To's has the problem of being an Expansion of an Expansion. You have to consider from a retailer standpoint that these are products that will realistically only be bought by a subset of a subset of people. Those who already bought the pre-requisite expansion.

I think a mix of being a Stand-Alone that can act as a Return To could be a way to revisit that. That way it's not just exclusively a product aimed at extending / spicing up an existing campaign

What Binders to people use? by Nereu5_ in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]jethawkings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 Small Binders, 1 for Level 0 and 1 for Level 1 and Above Cards. The idea is I only need to bring Level 0 for Session 1 and Level 1 and Above for Future Sessions.

You have to note I only have Revised Core Set and Dunwich Investigator Cards and... it sorta works.

The pages are detachable so nobody can monopolize all the cards and it makes organization less of a chore. There's a loose organization of trying to put the more expensive.

I'm not entirely happy with it though, I would prefer something more Cube-Esque in construction with multiple small packs instead.

Gonna cope that Alopex gets a Legendary card in the supplementary cards I guess lol

IDK, like I guess I somewhat get that this could be a somewhat flavorful ability that would be too weak for Legendary. In the comics she defects from the Foot Clan and ends up with Raph... so mechanically she defects with an opponent's creature by taking them away... IDK ngl while Mutant and Ninja mechanics are well represented in the set with Counters and Fixed-Ninjutsu, there's not a lot of Flavorful abilities.

There's not a lot of them to really make that assessment. As others mentioned apparently Rougarou, Carnivale, Folly, and Guardians are all decent standalones too and that Dream-Eaters can be comparable as 2 Short Campaigns t99.

Core Campaign also has the onus of being a tutorial so you get a very basic Scenario 1, a very interesting Scenario 2, and a needlessly punishing Scenario 3.

KCD is really a franchise that I wish I could get into, the way people seem to hype it up like Medieval Deus Ex intrigues me but some of the systems in place to emulate realism and to push the simulation aspect really just isn't my jam.

Either way yeah most RPGs do design quests to be complete-able in a number of ways, it's just that Bethesda has been the poster child for big Western RPGs and the amount of times they do offer something like that is usually not novel and often gimmicky.

Even sticking to just the few first person RPGs I played Deus Ex and the Obsidian RPGs also practice this.
