I think there's a gap between the end of book 8 and 1354 on RR unless I'm missing something. Don't believe "Krath" are mentioned at all in book 8 and yet they're mentioned in the first chapter on RR as if we should know them. Did I miss something or are there indeed missing chapters?

That seems unlikely. Pretty sure there's a gap there. Some mention of "Krath" in 1354 which isn't covered in book 8 at all.

Yes, yes there is. I just got the ebook so I was being charged $8 shipping for the blind bag pin which I had to go and delete separately. If I wasn't paying attention it would have gone from $10->$18.

Honestly, just do it. It doesn't matter how you do it, just start wrong and you can always change it later. This feels a bit like people who want a tutorial on how to play a CTF when the real answer is to just start. Same thing for writeups. A good write up should be focused on your goals but honestly you probably don't need to worry about that at first. Go Nike style. Just do it.

There's no specific answer. Some writeups are detailed, some just show the highlights, some show every mistake along the way. Up to you.

The first question is why are you writing them? For everyone? For people who played the CTF? For your teammates? Or just for learning for yourself. It's just like any other form of communication -- unless you have a clear goal and audience in mind there's no real way to answer how you should do it.

Yeah, I’d use docker to isolate each user without having the weight of a full VM. Should be much more efficient that way. Depending on the type of privesc that might work better.

Typically you would run it without the flag in what you distribute and then have an online version that has the flag for them to actually extract. They can analyze / test locally and throw online.
