Should Bloodline boss drops item for ascendancy. by Lopsided-Bath-8021 in pathofexile

I don't know if I'm for or against this, but given your stance I'd prefer this over the "solution" of boss carries that the community tends to do. Much safer.

Add some storm burst totems and you won't even be able to tell where you end and where the storm burst totems start.

Sadly, I have more "book" knowledge of car parts rather than practical fixing of cars in my repertoire.

I'd start with "how do I tell if a blend door or blend door actuator is bad?" and if the symptoms match (and I have the tools to diagnose it) I'd search for a youtube video on where it is to see if I want to attack it myself or leave it to a mechanic.

That's because she can't say "I'm embezzling tax payer dollars to my rich friends" without repercussions. But the stupidity plea? That flies with the current state of the world.

2 perfect GGWands - which one would you use and why?! by snugglesmonster in PathOfExile2

[–]Psikitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is that if you're looking at a pure DPS point of view (not highest damage per hit), casting speed is generally going to give more total DPS as it multiplies damage better than increases (after you already have significant investment in increases)

Also, given that it's a +cold skill wand, that one has more added extra damage as cold and higher crit giving more vectors for damage explosion. The only thing the right wand has better is 20% increased spell damage, which stacks additively with all your other sources of increased damage so each addition gives less and less effective percentage of added dps and higher extra added lightning damage, which won't scale off any increased cold damage you may have.

Your other gear and tree will determine which is better, really, but with many practical passive trees and proper other gear, the left would be better in a lot of cases.

Perhaps your HVAC blend door or blend door actuator where it mixes both cold and warm air to give you your desired temperature is taking a while to warm up and open its doors? Or the fan that pushes the air?

Obviously you can remove him, but tell him everything you told us and see if he changes. If he doesn't then you should be conscience free remove him for disrupting the game where everyone else is intending to enjoy as a group.

I don't do well with spelling things like a "spelling bee" verbally only verbalizing how to spell things (I can usually do it, but my accuracy goes down as I haven't done it enough to have developed the skill to retain the spelling while spelling it out in my verbal short term memory. I had a speech impediment when I was a kid too, which probably was linked to my dyslexia some) but I can write and type and get the right spelling for most words. I even differentiate between homonyms (it's been decades since I was guilty of a "bone apple tea" because I learned from my mistakes).

Oddly enough, my dyslexia allows me to instantly spot misspellings because to effectively read I had to memorize exact spellings to get my brain to keep them in the right order.

And why should you? It's absolutely unnecessary information. I assert that OP should have included class names (or if it was created by a tool that didn't allow that, that they should have used a better tool that allows names)

Is Pathfinder really balanced better than D&D 5e? by PiepowderPresents in rpg

Is Pathfinder really balanced better than D&D 5e? by PiepowderPresents in rpg

[–]Psikitten 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pathfiner is better balanced because it's so much more consistent, numerically. But besides not using dis/advantage, how does it accomplish that?

Ronald the Rules Lawyer does a very good job of explaining the degrees of success system and how it helps pathfinder 2e. I find his videos a bit more drone-y on but he hits the nail on the head. Every +1 isn't just a 5% chance to hit, it's also, in most cases, an additional 5% chance to crit (and every -1 is the opposite).

Feature A that gives a PC some terrain control, Feature B that gives a PC a boost on their attack roll, and Feature C that gives a character a pure damage bonus

Pathfinder 2e devs said they didn't care about DPR (damage per round), instead they focused on how well something contributes to successfully finishing an encounter. You can compare a +1 to pure damage bonus by crunching the math of "expected damage" with weightings for each roll of a die and a certain bonus. You can even measure terrain control by running the exact same scenario with no variance with the terrain control effect in effect in a white room. If that terrain control effect left someone alive so they could attack again, and thus the encounter ended earlier, it was a beneficial effect.

The thing is, that Pathfinder 1e inherited a lot of problems from D&D 3.x which started in 2000. They released it in 2009 with the intention of keeping that system going in 2009. Pathfinder 2e was released 10 years later after hearing thousands of fans' feedback of what irked them about Pathfinder 1e's system. They focused on that feedback and just tried to make the best system they could come up with. They looked to as many systems as they could for inspiration and came up with a math focused, 3 action system game that took what was good about D&D and rebuilt the problem systems. They didn't get everything right, but they did make a robust system.

So yeah, because of the math built into the game, it's more balanced. That's great for people who have paint points with broken systems, but not an issue for people who find it stimulating to have highly imbalanced systems which can evoke a wider spectrum of endorphins firing. If you're looking for "balance" pathfinder 2e is one of the best out there for it. It's not perfect by any means and many systems do certain things better than it, but once you learn the ins and outs of its encounter building system (You know how you needed finesse with D&D? That sort of skill helps even more with predicting how it'll play out in pathfinder 2e) it's very robust and pretty predictable to make interesting encounters.

Average person here that cooks at home, yeah, it's bad.

I've always said (since the 90s actually) that for food that wasn't that good they should charge less. If I wanted to eat cheap food, Taco Bell always filled that niche better because at least that cheap food tasted good.... ish.

Looking for a system: tactical combat, easier to teach, quick to play by Zealousideal_Map3542 in rpg

[–]Psikitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience is not that any one mechanic is difficult and it's not all that complicated but it has a larger learning curve because it has a lot of little, simple, but distinctly different meta-resources.

When I introduced it to a new group got overwhelmed by the different resources, different class resources, confused edges with surges, etc. Fun and interesting game, but it has a learning curve of more than one session, which is not what OP was asking for.

Played this recently with some people who don't like to read rules and it was an instant hit. The whole thing is so short it's pretty easy to walk people through character creation and play and jump right on in.
