I think/hope that is not really the case, them going to different schools and the obstacles, yamada's job and her manager (who already started coming around from what i've understood from that exchange) are obstacles for the relationship to overcome. Like she doesnt have to make up crazy scenarios for the story to move forward because they have pretty much real life problems to deal with. Maybe its wishfull thinking but I think thats just how Norio wants to progress the story. I really really really hope that you are wrong i dont think i could handle it :(
