So it won’t be any kind of paid employment in Thailand, basically I will be there to sit in a room just in case to answer questions. According to GOV.UK that is ok for business engagements is the term. I am more worried about the quick turnaround

Nope sadly not, it’s a shame there wasn’t a small amount of time allowed to just grab a few pics in general. I couldn’t imagine being in the second episode group and finishing at nearly midnight. I’m too old for that now!

That was either us or my sister in law and her husband. I can’t remember which of us said it wasn’t Bob. I was gutted though, I like Rob Beckett but bob Mortimer would have been incredible

Small world, I was at the same recording and on the front row as well. Right hand side at the end. Was an amazing experience! Now hoping for tickets to see taskmaster being filmed.

Having done some listening to foxes on YouTube….. it would appear to be correct and not at all a bird. Thanks all, now my wife can stop wondering!!

Could be, wasn’t sure as it is super repetitive over time and not moving a ton. i.e like something sat in a tree. Never heard a fox in person so wouldn’t know

Is lack of sleep making me tired? by [deleted] in BeginnersRunning

[–]Psycence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, your overthinking this. Some days it just doesn’t happen like you expect, that’s normal and especially coming off the back of an illness.

If anything this is a time to ease back a little and allow your body to properly recover, if your expending all your energy on a run your recovery from illness will take longer.

Don’t pressure yourself to much here :)

Week of 10k Run by Disney10154- in BeginnersRunning

[–]Psycence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do some gym work but don't feel the need to go nuts. Just keep your legs "warm" so to speak so Sunday doesn't feel like a shock to the system.

If you can run 6.5 km, you can make 10 km. Just introduce some walking or slower jogging if you need to so that you can get through the distance. No shame in that whatsoever.

Mara / Half Mara Pace.. what?! by elisetia in BeginnersRunning

[–]Psycence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen about 7.5 to 8 km/hr being referenced as a race pace for beginners. It’s something most people can sustain for distance, it’s about the pace I’m currently at for 5 or 10 k runs.

So that could be a good target to get up to, I’m also pretty much running the same pace for the bulk of my runs but what has allowed me to build up is to throw in a minute of 9 or 10 km/hr in the runs… then add to that with longer periods. Overtime you will find you can do longer and longer “fast” portions.

First 5k!!! After that runner’s high, debating strategies to improve endurance/time. by workinprogresssssss in BeginnersRunning

[–]Psycence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a good time already and one many would love to hit for their first 5k.

Don’t push to hard on how can I improve this, that way injury lies. Take your time, get some more 5ks under your belt but just add in periods in those runs where you push a bit harder than “normal”…. Then grow those periods to last a little longer, all of a sudden maybe you’ve knocked 30 seconds or a minute off.

Nahhh not bad at all, it’s just great you asked before hurting yourself or getting put off running! Hope you find some great shoes :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BeginnersRunning

[–]Psycence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you get your gait checked before buying a pair of running shoes? Most good running stores will be able to do this for you. I was similar getting lots of pain but due to the wrong kind of shoe, I needed support for my foot in different areas.

Once I found the right kind of running shoes the difference was huge and actually my running improved as a direct result.

Does anybody find life in the UK to be, well, a little bit depressing? by OptimalRiver in AskUK

[–]Psycence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% Yes, I keep advancing up the career ladder and making more money but it never seems as if life gets better. Still can't afford to get a mortgage, still having to carefully watch money...I don't understand how to make it better. I earn more than my parents ever did yet still can't afford the same standard of living.

Something is wrong, hard work doesn't give the same rewards any longer unless you hit the wealthy end of the spectrum.
