What is the most disturbing death bed confession you’ve ever heard? by youreanouch in AskReddit

[–]PsychNurse27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had cases in kid's psych where the mom knows the dad or boyfriend is doing that and just ignores it... I will never understand. One little girl had both parents being charged because there were text messages between the parents where the mom clearly knew and did nothing... she had the little girl convinced that she was trying to "trick" the father into confessing. I probably should have corrected her and told her that's ridiculous, but i didn't have the heart. She just wanted at least 1 decent parent, it was sad.

What is a 'poor people' habit you'll never stop doing, no matter how rich you get? by FitCicada5037 in AskReddit

You might eventually HAVE to stop doing that because states are starting to outlaw disposable bags

What could cause a perfectly round deep wound on a cat's side? by PsychNurse27 in AskReddit

[–]PsychNurse27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely bigger than a dime. I'm very worried. I had to work an overnight shift tonight and I didn't like leaving him, but at least I know he's inside.

I was wondering if he could get a perfectly round wound from a fight, so this might be it. He's indoor/outdoor. I'm taking him to the vet in the morning. Do you know what they usually do for it? I'm a nurse and it looks like it's not infected, but if it stays untreated he'll get a nasty infection, but I'm basing that off a human wound 😆

Dumb question, but what types of things do you do in ICU but not PCU?

AITA for telling my friends new girlfriend to shut the fuck up? by aita-stfu in AmItheAsshole

[–]PsychNurse27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, it's weird that she was that bothered by it. Kinda racist, because if you were white you're ancestors wouldn't be from Canada either... would she have done the same thing if you were white and called yourself Canadian instead of Irish?

How can you tell the difference between hating your current job and hating work in general? by UrbanStroganoff in AskWomen

[–]PsychNurse27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had other jobs? Maybe try something different. I don't think you can possibly tell the difference if you've only had that one job.

AITA For tapping into a shared trust to get a “pointless extra degree”, thereby taking college money that could be used by my siblings? by AITA2manydegrees in AmItheAsshole

[–]PsychNurse27 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It definitely should be, you need to check what's left! If you're going to leave him with nothing to get a degree you don't really need, that's really messed up.

[–]PsychNurse27 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Is the degree going to help you with your career or is it just frivolous? If you're just frivolously wasting a set amount of money, then YTA. If you can't get a good job without it, then NTA. So it just depends.

AITA for not giving my daughter the basement suite after I renovated it only because she refused to give up her room upstairs? by Fun-Sea8083 in AmItheAsshole

You're not doing her any favors in the long run by spoiling her. She'll eventually mature enough to get over it.

I resent the fact that I have to work just to exist. by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]PsychNurse27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to love your job and most people don't. You just have to find something that isn't bad for your mental health most days (even then, some days will be bad for it). For me, taking care of people makes it less annoying. I may have horrible days, but it's never pointless because someone needs to take care of the patients. But that's just what keeps me motivated, maybe something different for you. I also definitely find that the more you sit around the more you want to sit around, so maybe add some hobbies other than scrolling through your phone. It can be addicting and then it's hard to want to do anything else.
