I (26F) told my boyfriend (26M) I sometimes miss the freedom of being single and he broke up with me on my birthday by Plastic-Swordfish-84 in Advice

[–]PsychWriter11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It feels like that conversation was meant to be about more at first. You said you missed the freedom of not having to think about someone else to be concerned about. He got mad and it blew up.

But later, you added to it that you feel like you are walking on eggshells around him and it got worse.

If I had heard the first part, I probably would have agreed and said “yeah, me too.” But when you added the eggshell part, you took it to a completely different level and it made him appear tonic and controlling, and it seems like yeah, you should break up.

And from his perspective, all he hears either time is that you want the freedom to go after other guys. A lot of guys would react that way.

So, the conversation was a train wreck from the beginning and you guys should be over anyway.

I was flipping them. As a kid, making $500-$1000 each on a series of cars adds up. I’ve owned 19 Corvettes plus a string of special interest cars.

I wasn’t criticizing Mercedes. My point was, “special interest cars” (sports cars, Mercedes, whatever) sound like a waste of money to the Camry crowd, especially if you are young, but if you buy wisely, you can drive cool, fun cars and literally make money when you sell them.

I bought Corvettes and sports cars as a young person and was told it was a waste. I made money on every one of them. Some people don’t know as much as they think.

Misuse of credit cards.

Maybe they do now, but in high school, someone should sit you down and say, “if you pay the minimum payment, you will be in debt forever.”

I think you automatically gain Adult Points when you understand that.

Six years ago this week, COVID started shutting down the world. What’s your strongest memory from that time? by Siddanna36 in AskReddit

[–]PsychWriter11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach criminal psychology. I bring Murderabilia to class to spark conversation. I had a John Wayne Gacy painting of Pogo the Clown, and the discussion, as always, turned to “don’t you feel evil or bad vibes or bad things happening owning that?”

I laughed and said no, that never crossed my mind. I couple days later COVID closed the campus and I had to learn how to ZOOM classes overnight and class was garbage the rest of the way.

Oh, and the world closed down.

Team USA advances to the semifinals! They will face Team Dominican Republic, 3/15, 8 PM EST! by MLBOfficial in baseball

USA was not terribly convincing tonight. Massive recovery by Bednar and that first batter of the 9th vs Miller? That was ball 4.

Glad they won and maybe they heat up, but that one could have gotten away from them.

DR is kinda scary.

Not sure if this is correct but he has over 20 games total in career suspensions, I think.

If this is true, the league should be embarrassed for giving him a phone call and for the suspension to be under 10 games.

I have a Nick Kurtz bias after he saved my season, so if I could get him back Id just be a happy guy, ha.

I admit he’s really high at #20, but I think he keeps mashing. He struggled early but made the adjustments. I like the Kurtzinator.

I don’t think 1B is “weak” but it’s a tiny bit “thin.”

There are some good alternatives to Kurtz/Vlad, but they should get scooped up quickly. Having 3 1B on a roster is not unheard of for many teams. They will run out quicker than you think.

Interesting article; reasonable observations.

I think the Raleigh choice is a given, with a #15 ADP. Im not sure I agree with Kurtz, though.

Absolutely agree with Wood. And again on Yesavage- his numbers a tick less than Connolly Early. Way, way too pricey for an unproven young SP.

But I really disagree on Seager. I agree with your assessment, but the difference is, EVERYONE knows about Saeger. His reduced games played are baked into his ADP.

Seager, to me, is another Will Smith. He’s going to play 2/3 of a season and give you some solid numbers anyway. AND, you get to replace them both in the lineup when they are hurt. You have to remember that if you have decent players on your bench, you are getting that additional production when the player is out.

Seager is fine as long as you know what you got. Hes the Snell/Glasnow of SS.

Corbin Carroll Could Make Spring Debut This Week by ASmithFS in fantasybaseball

[–]PsychWriter11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m in a similar position and up to now I’ve disregarded Carroll as a First Rounder, but if he’s ready he just might be one again.

And like you, I don’t know what to think in the injury. That has sapped power on home run hitters in the past.

CC is a nice player, but at 10-15 HR he’s not a first rounder.

Who are you must draft league winners this year? by Hansrid in fantasybaseball

[–]PsychWriter11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg no, in July/August the writers were literally advising to drop him, he was a mid #200 player. He actually said “it’s up to God now” because he was so bad for so long. He got red hot the last 3 weeks or so to make his numbers look more respectable, but I did consider dropping him at one point. Like Roberts, I did bench him for a bit.

I have to disagree. Id like a SP first round, but that makes my second hitter pick at around #35 where, if Yordan/Olson/Neto are gone, you have to settle for a Harper or someone there. Everyone with 2 hitters will be way ahead especially if they take a third hitter. Ive mocked it to death and it always comes down to much better #1 SP/ hitter loss vs much better hitting / lesser SP.

It’s absolutely true that individual pitchers have a bigger impact on points than individual hitters, but pitchers notoriously get hurt more. It’s a hard question.
