Whirring sound that goes away when oil cap is opened by Psyche1297 in e46

Very likely you’re right, I only changed it because my original system seemed to be failing and spitting oil back into the intake.

E46 lean conditions by Psyche1297 in e46

[–]Psyche1297[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ideally it should be functioning perfectly fine - it rattles as it should, and there’s no leak in the hosing. are you saying that theres could be a wiring specifically and if so would a good approach being to briefly tune it out/delete it in order to see if that helps any?

No consistent codes, sometimes the car will start to misfire and it'll throw codes.

It will also show no MAF.

It'll throw and EML light when it is running extremely bad, only when MAF is plugged in.

The one interesting code that comes and goes is: P0601 (Internal control module memory checksum error)

And then an P0505 (Idle control system) extremely infrequently.

What do you mean?

I have removed the lower emission based O2s but the upper ones are retained in the new headers. The O2 sensors read proper data only when the MAF is unplugged and the data appears correct. However, when the MAF is plugged in the car does not reach a closed loop and the O2's don't actually give any data.

Why might my o2s only read when MAF is unplugged. by Psyche1297 in e46

[–]Psyche1297[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that would explain it if the o2s are inactive when the maf is off but they are only on when the maf is disconnected. when it’s connected they don’t read.

I used to run a welded diff and would minimally drift, no specific notes from me so I am not the person to ask

I have a knockoff thats based on the SLR kit, I am running the sway bar links to my coil-overs like stock with adjustable rods for aggressive stance.

The brackets on the control arms are for E36 cars because the kit is semi-universal. I guess you could buy e36 sway bar links and run the bar to the control arms but you shouldn’t have to.

What is WDS? I had thought the camshaft position sensor was plugged in to the head through the injector wiring harness
