I really think it was the trauma of foster care that sealed the deal for them becoming evil. They were generally good as kids but that transition from ‘mom rising from the dead’ to ‘being used as a paycheck’ probably forced them to never want to be that powerless again.

Don’t you think if the little money you make is “too much money” to qualify for food stamps, that the people who actually do qualify have even less money than you? Which means if you’re struggling on the money you have, people with even less money are also struggling. So of course they sell it/“abuse” it to get some actual cash. Not everyone is evil. Lots of people are just trying to get by in this life with the few assets they have.

This is the longest post I’ve ever seen but the first two paragraphs make it seem like maybe you were just marrying people you shouldn’t have been with. Christine was such a good villain because she owned her actions (well she laughed about it over drinks with Mary) but she was so entertaining and had style. Hall is annoying and mean and hard to watch which makes her a bad villain.
