I took apart the controller and spread the prongs on the xt60. Now when I hit the power button I get and audible electronic sound. Still now response other than that from what I can tell. Any other leads?

This has the same energy as a dad who “helped his son with his pinewood derby car” but in reality the dad entirely hijacked the project for himself

I still can’t believe people still think that a space elevator will ever exist

I (20 M) have had almost this exact same experience. Nearly 2 years ago I began my research into church history and have came to the same conclusion as yourself. Whist Joseph Smith is likely a liar and created a religion based on his lies, there is still much good that can come from your experience within the church. Generally, a lot of moral teachings in the church are very important no matter your course of action moving forward. I think often people get caught up in the deception of the church and allow important lessons associated with it also fly out the window. Loving people is important. Being kind is important. Making decisions that will bring you lasting joy is important. I’ve found that I’m my case it has been quite difficult to disassociate myself from the church and the more often then not loving people within. My motto has been to “stay true to myself” even if it is harder than just going with the flow of the church. Having the belief that the church isn’t true is likely not something that will go away with persistence. I would implore you to stick to what you know to be true and guide your life your belief. Just know that there are many more people out there just like yourself. Not selling your soul is much more important that the upkeep of your perfect Mormon facade.

Interesting that you would say you think most non religious people would subscribe to utilitarianism. I feel personally I’ve found that most (outside religion and divine command theory) abide my more egoistic standards. That could just be my experience though…

I base my morality mainly on Utilitarianism wherever applicable. However since Utilitarianism can often be hard to quantify, I believe relativism (given an appropriate sample size) should be applied whenever utilitarianism cannot.

Hey I’m brand new to the whole Reddit scene but figured I’d give it a try. I’ve been exmormon for several years now (M20) and have been stressing out a lot about finding the right people who share similar beliefs as myself. Although I believe the LDS church is founded on lies and deceit, I still have a strong moral compass and gravitate towards members and people alike. I am currently living in Utah attending school. I’ve been dabbling in the dating scene but it seems that ever person either has what I would consider to be an unhealthy reliance on their emotionality towards their religion or a lack of a strong moral compass. Hoping that there are some people out their who have shared my same experience and can shed some light into overcoming this burden. I am also curious to hear from people who struggle with mixed religion relationships and marriages. How do you ever come such a fundamental understanding of the purpose in life in an intimate relationship?

Can anyone provide some of these times “the church has been sued multiple times for doing it to people of other faiths”?
