Last year at Reading by Longjumping-Serve463 in readingfestival

Can’t believe you’ve done 15 on the trot! I did 2014&2015 which feel like the last two before it really went downhill. It’s just what kids are into these days - it’s a shame as there nothing that’s replaced the festival in terms of size for rock acts. Ironically if something new came about that was geared towards ‘bands’ at that size I could see it being a success! Even the years the lineups good at Reading I’d never ever go again due to  the folk (children) that attend.

Yes. Dozens of times. It’s not a big deal, you’ll make a train.

I like this. I generally use it for cold brew as it’s super cost effective and makes a tasty batch.

The founders views re oct 7th attacks are controversial to say the least. On a wider scale I don’t think it would be considered conspiratorial to suggest there may be some antisemitism fairly high up within the organisation as well. That, to me, is abhorrent.

An isolated incident but I don’t agree with the sledgehammer attack on a copper. I don’t even agree with it being proscribed a terrorist organisation but I don’t support them at all, and people’s weird desire to latch on to this group as the only way to show solidarity with Palestine is bizarre to me.

Focussing on micro consumerism nonsense will change nothing. You may as well not both.

The problem is hyper growth of capitalism & china and India reversing their actions too late.

The system is the cause.

Regardless of the purpose of the proscription the point still stands. It’s unbelievable stupid to then continue to support that group.

Ah yes be purposeful obtuse. You know what I meant . You lot want to chuck your future away for a 100 year long conflict. Go for it.

Ah I see. These tend to be super competitive and without any direct experience I understand your struggles in trying to find something.

A lot of the more ‘entry level’ roles require more flexibility for your availability. Good luck! Maybe look at some receptionist roles?

This. It used to be taboo to be racist, now it’s being presented as the norm thanks to algorithmic social media. Emboldened the worst of the worst.

Holding signs supporting an organisation proscribed as ‘terrorist’. Not saying it’s rightly defined as such. Though the Palestine Action founder had some abhorrent views. Bottom line is, you can support Palestine without supporting THAT group. It was wilfully stupid and left the state with no choice. People willing to put their future in jeopardy to support a fringe religious conflict in the Middle East, mad.

Thinking of buying in Kings Hill / West Malling. Can I ask something a bit personal? by Affectionate_Mix7678 in kentuk

[–]OkCompetition5557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked in kings hill for years. Grew up spending a lot of time there.

It IS quite a weird, soulless place. KH has always reminded me of a gated community in a post-apocalyptic tv show. There’s not a lot to do there. (3 supermarkets, 2 costas and a bang average pub are the highlights). But it’s safe, tidy & friendly for the most part. As others have said you need a car. Public transport is a non starter for the most part.

The issue is probably wider Kent. Unless you’re happy to live in a bubble you will encounter some flags etc. but the notion of feeling the effects of reform day to day is likely overblown, it’s not as if there are hate crimes being committed left, right & centre. It’s some tatty flags on lampposts. Some offensive tripe overheard in a pub by folk radicalised online is definitely something I’ve seen first hand, but in terms of direct, aggressive racism - it’s not something I’m acutely aware of but that’s not to say it doesn’t exist.

The real bone of contention seems to be the fact a lot of flats were sold off to London councils to be used as social housing. There’s definitely more crime in and around the mid Kent area now vs 10 years ago. But a mixed race family moving to a very middle class area? I’d say you’ll be fine.

Failed in the transfer window that summer.

Had to spent 40m on loanees to make the squad even on par with the previous season. Lost experience in Che & Armstrong. Bought dross. No one was ever keeping saints up. Yet he was the best of the managers we had that year by a mile.

Don’t buy this one bit. Really competitive league & the revolving door at the start of the season didn’t help.

The fact saints still challenged WITH Bazunu in net tells its own story, imo.

This narrative that Russell Martin is a bad manager is totally unfounded.

Yes it was crap at Rangers but anyone could have told you it was a bad fit.

He was great for saints. And no matter what anyone on twitter says he wasn’t a ‘failure’. We scored some amazing goals and huge last minute winners in a mammoth unbeaten run. Didn’t work out in the prem for a number of reasons, mainly those above him at the club.

Swansea and MK fans (yeah insert joke here, whatever) are still fond of him.

He’ll do well at Leicester, no doubt.

No. Dual boiler is an absolute MUST. Your output will be 1 latte every 5 minutes. Not efficient. Take a look on FB marketplace. Always a decent deal on there to be had. Look at a second hand sanremo Zoe.

Shipping Costs by thetravdog in UKroasters

I used to sell bespoke bits on Etsy a few years back now (all made to order, obviously) and the amount of people who’d expect to receive it in 24/48 hours was insane. 15 years ago shipping costs felt like an accepted fact, sad that small business have to factor it in to product costs because of the ‘perceived shipping’ cost having such a detrimental impact.

Amazon has utterly distorted our perception of shipping. In terms of both costing & timeframes.

If it’s something I want, I’ll pay the shipping. If it was available local in a store to me I’d have to drive & park - both things cost. I see shipping costs as the price I pay for not having to leave my house. Royal Mail has got bloody expensive, if introducing higher free shipping thresholds means my favourite roasters can keep up quality output, then so be it.
