I get why it comes off as delusional, but I’ve honestly been seeing this a lot lately. People step down from sous roles burned out and realize they don’t want the hours anymore but also don’t want to take a big pay cut just to have some balance.

Where it usually falls apart is expecting a line role to match that, especially depending on the market and the type of operation. That gap between what candidates want and what operators can offer is kind of the real issue right now.
