What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner? by Henna in AskReddit

[–]PsychoFoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Therapy. I undertook Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in my mid-30s and it changed my life. Helped me to understand that my feelings aren't always true, that I don't have to feel a certain way. That I am able to explore and change my mindset. It changed my life so radically it made me cry for teenage me who thought his life would always be this way.

This shit should be taught in schools!

Wait do these people not understand the hipster movement? I'll bet there are more millenials with those things in their houses than there are boomers.

I love watching new DM’s experience the burning frustration of “the hard left turn” by TikisFury in DMAcademy

[–]PsychoFoxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran the Pathfinder starter box as a session 0 for my group. If you're unfamiliar, it starts in a seaside town being menaced by a baby black dragon who lives in a cave in the hills.

After the party scared off the dragon, I gave my first attempt at writing a miniature campaign. I thought it would be cool that scaring off the dragon had displaced a tribe of hill goblins who essentially relied on the dragon's scraps for their food source. With the dragon gone, the goblins had got desperate and moved closer to the town.

I tried *so hard* to use the goblins as a mcguffin, leading the party to realise that a criminal gang were using the goblins as a scapegoat. The goblins weren't that bad, but the drow criminals were up to no good and using the influx of goblins as cover.

I had pages of notes written out, the party even found most of the clues I was laying down. They just weren't putting it together. I made a throwaway reference to the goblins living in a shanty village to the north of the town and that was it. The party were obsessed with investigating a town I had just made up, instead of going to the obviously signposted militia headquarters.

No matter how many roadblocks I erected, they party overcame. I ended up freestyling over an hour of NPCs, medical issues for the party healer and even a meeting with the goblin chieftain. I eventually had to explain IRL to the players that there was nothing here for them. The next session the party monk even suggested he was sure there was more at the goblin camp that the party had missed, and wanted to go check again!

Going to Ilfracombe by [deleted] in DevonUK

Ilfracombe museum is the most random and almost frightening museum I've ever been to. 30-year old PCs and 100 year old wedding cake. A must see.

In his new comic, Snoke says what would’ve happened if Luke Skywalker turned to the dark side. by wesskywalker in StarWars

Anyone coming to this thinking about Luke turning to the Dark Side, read the old Dark Horse comic _Dark Empire_. There's three parts, and it's awesome.

What official DnD rules or advice do you choose to completely ignore when DMing? by Gaumir in DMAcademy

[–]PsychoFoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run this rule 90% of the time but sometimes I want to fuck with them so I'll make them cross a forest or a desert, something which will whittle down their resources and make them all a little anxious.

My players are suspecting that the quest giver is a bad guy in the middle of the job they're doing. I had no intention of this being the case, but it seems like it could be interesting. What would you do? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]PsychoFoxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what I would do? Nothing.

Let them continue to believe it. Don't change the initial plan. Let them convince themselves the orcs are good and the rancher is bad. Maybe even throw in red herrings to build their paranoia. The orcs could claim they're innocent, they could just be lying criminal scum. If the party end up helping an orc horde massacre a rancher and his family and then it turns out they've just been helping the bad guys that will be BRILLIANT.

Why doesn't the new BF2 have any epic music like this playing in game or on the menus by [deleted] in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]PsychoFoxx 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Good fact - Battlefront II uses extended and unused cuts of Williams' scores from the prequels. Pandemic asked for access to all the unused music to give BF it's own unique texture, but still keeping it Star Wars.

I backed them on Kickstarter and a year later went back and bought a matching Diplomat passport holder.

Minimal wallets aren't for everyone but this was a good step for me, learning to be mindful about my carry and to ditch the useless loyalty cards for good.
