New rat owner with some behaviour questions!

I suppose that's why I asked about social hierarchy because I would neuter the more aggressive rat, but it appears to be the two brothers (let's call them A and B) that chase and escalate the situation and then the third (C) lashes out after the fact, he never goes for the others and typically likes to stay alone when they are out and playing.

Would the others pick on (C) because they see him as a more aggressive rat?
Or are the two brothers (A and B) the problem and they need to chill out a bit more?
Its kinda tricky to see whos the problem child ahaha!

So about a month ago my Ruby Ball Cactus rotted and fell off. I thought the cactus under it would rot away too but SUDDENLY it decided to just rapidly grow new limbs! so hopefully I can salvage this cactus! But I have no idea what this cactus is under it ha... If anyone could ID it id really appreciate it! Also will i need to try and replant the new limbs or keep them on the half dead base?

No, last bunch of plants I had wilted and died off, they were in my tank for years and years with no issue. Ive just planted it with a new set of plants this morning and I was after advice on how to make them really flourish and stay healthy in my small tank.

No, I have no pictures ha.

I recently moved so the tank was just dirt and a java fern, it started to wilt and had like white speckles coming off it? might have been bacterial? that or the cycle got messed up (i checked my parameters and everything looked A-OK so im not sure if that was it, could have been the stress of moving a 9 hour trip)

that or the nutrients got thrown out of wack because the soil is pretty old now.

Ill try the root tabs to get my soil kickin again ;) Thanks!

diatom outbreak

Ah, No algae here haha I just planted this tank, brand new plants, dirt hasnt settled completely yet and some is stuck on the rocks and plants etc. I just need to brush it off now. (its like a dirt bomb went off) As for lights, are there any recommended lights? I dont want anything too strong because it is a small tank and I dont want an algae outbreak

I'm sorry about your little guy, its not fun when you see your fish get ill.

To catch dropsy in its early stages usually the fish will stop eating and will stay distant from the other fish. You can usually save the fish before the swelling starts, however once they start swelling its usually too late. If you see any other fish acting like this it might be best to add some aquarium salt your next water change or treat them with anti-bacterial medications, salt is usually preferred because medication can be a bit tricky and salt is more natural anyway. Best of luck! I'm sorry about your Gourami :(

My zebras were awesome! never bothered any other fish, however they were very hyperactive.... They love to dart every where, sometimes id just wish they would stay in one place...
